Any recommendations?
I can no longer use my die grinder as my compressor got broken beyond repair and I can't really justify buying another. I was something a bit more precise and a bit less aggressive than and angle grinder.

get whatever you can get a good deal on , ive had b&q and aldi ones and they're no worse than the proper dremel make...just make sure it has adjustable speed

I got a ryobi one and prefer it to a dremel . They are nowhere near as good as a air driven die grinder though.

It's all about the bits with these really. I also have a cheap one but always use dremmel bits as cheap ones are rubbish.

The Aldi ones are incredibly good for the price, variable speed and a flexi shaft attachment, but they only stock them occasionally and sell out quickly. As said, the bits that come with them are (mostly) awful.

I cant advise on the unit itself. Ive only ever used an actual Dremel. One died for no apparent reason and a quick poke showed no reason why it broke so I'm on my second now but I wouldnt give it up, incredibly useful tool.
As for bits, echoing what was said above only buy Dremel brand bits, all others disintegrate or plain don't work. You wont end up saving any money in the end with off brand bits.

I would recommend Proxxon - don't know if they're available in UK but certainly online. The new Dremels aren't what they used to be. I had one burn out after not too much time. The earlier model were made in USA but now China. I moved over to Proxxon - made in EU and they make many different precision tools. www.proxxon.com/en/

I can no longer use my die grinder as my compressor got broken beyond repair and I can't really justify buying another. I have a hard time imagining life without an air compressor at hand. Have you considered buying one second hand? With a bit of luck you can pick one up for less than a tenner on eBay or the car boot sale. Same for parts to fix yours (what is "broken beyond repair?); I recently bought a good quality 50 litre tank for 99p and in the past I've bought used motors for only a few quid.

Any idea what their spray guns are like? Looks more or less identical to the sealey HVLP I use to paint military vehicles (mainly) and that has never let me down if I keep it clean. For a tenner worth a punt. I've used it long enough to start wearing through the 'anodising' on the grip.

Surface prep, air quality, temperature, gun settings, technique etc etc, then once the paint is on, how you flat and polish the finish, also the type of paint, thinners and clearcoat will affect your results, Previous experience of lidl tools has shown them to be perfectly useable and good value for money Ttfn Glenn
