So I'm spending far too much time drooling over 70s and 80s Touring cars and getting inspiration for my new 635CSI
Those race grids were always packed with big budget factory sponsored teams and all of those cars were rocking awesome rims.
The teams must have used 1000s of wheels - mostly centre locks.
Question is where are all those lovely deep dish, multi piece mesh? Have they all rotted away - they were probably magnesium. Or does someone have the best stash ever?!

Mag wheels would have done one or two seasons at the very most, though very rigid and light they do crack with a good impact and with age even more susceptible, whilst they can be x-ray tested, that's not economical in the quantities.
They also don't stand up well to corrosion being a particularly reactive material.

Also would be a disaster waiting to happen on a road car

That's buggered it. I've got shedloads of work to do this aft and now I'm considering how to pay for a rally car instead.
