I do like those 60s early Javelins. I've often thought if you couldn't get hold of a matt black Aussie Falcon to Mad Maxificate, a pre-humpty Javelin would make a good substitute Yeah, for me that Javelin was possibly one of the most interesting cars to see because its the only one that I didn't feel I'd probably seen 100 times before. The Dodge Charger.... such an awesome beast of a car, but even so I found myself gliding past it thinking "yep, it's one of those". The little notchback Anglia (or Popular, or Prefect) with the day-glo Lexan windows was pretty cool too. I liked that.

has anyone done a lowered scimitar with modern low profile wheels/tyres tim ? Oh god yes bloody hundreds of them. Almost everyone who isn't keeping their car classic has gone lowered with low profiles. I don't want to go low and low profile if that's where you're heading though Robert. As I've said before if I was to do anything wheel-wise to this it would be to get much much bigger wheels and tyres on the back and radius cut away the rear arches.

Hopefully fully clothed....
Try owning a scabby not rare LR. It’s like turning up in your underseal clothes at a party, and then doing a small bit of wee on the floor which people notice when you leave.

Don't mind all that frazzle, howdidthebloodycargo? Itranfine! So what you are ACTUALLY trying to say is you prefer your view from your lofty Scimitar looking down on us the great unwashed..?? Ive never liked low profile tyres... I'm a big fan of having pre-80's big fat donuts on pre-80's cars - That's the retro aesthetic I personally enjoy. Secondly my last car was significantly lowered and it was a pain in the trousers trying to drive it anywhere without having to deploy eccentric manouvres in urban areas. Low and low profiles are great for the racetrack, but in the real world of daily driving on ordinary roads and streets I'd rather be free to drive without having to fear speed bumps and potholes. Horses for courses and all that. Mostly though, I have always liked cars with fat tyres, and because I love gassers I think I'm inured to the apparent visual horror of a large wheel arch gap ... something that seems to freak everyone else out here. Mark my words high risers are going to be the new slammed and stanced.

[/quote] This ^^^ I'm a firm believer in that a car needs to be designed to work on lower profile tires, even the likes of my mk1 9mk2 Golfs, I steadfastly believe the chassis designers were relying on the compression of the sidewalls as part of the handling characteristics, that they absorb a lot of the bumps that the myriad of bushings and subframes deal with on new cars.

I come and go with your thread, and having read through the last five pages in order to catch up, some interesting points. Re qualifications, I find it interesting to see the current trend for continued education, which is churning out individuals who think that they are ready for the work-place, and actually have no idea how the modern world functions. I ended up in the wrong secondary school, King Edward VI Grammar School, Stourbridge, and to say the least was bored to death with emphasis on the Classics, etc.... Basically I made a mess of the whole time there and left at 16 yrs of age. Nevertheless I managed to make my way through life; now approaching three score years and ten and still above the earth; my persion(s) keep me in the manner to which I have grown accustomed. Re that emporium in Brum, which your father frequented, there was more than one of those about, and you could always get a good deal, despite getting stuffed with the occassional load of rubbish. Happy days and no one really cared how the stuff actually got there. :-) The old saying in that area, was that if you can't get it in Brum or the Black Country, then it wasn't made. However there were a plethora of very skilled individuals who knock up anything that you dreamt about. Unfortunately most of that skill base has not been replaced, other than by machines. Keep up the good work.

I'm home now and about to dive into a large bowl of pancetta carbonara so I cant face typing it again.

You are so mistaken. I make a pancetta carbonara that would make you lose your mind. It's like mainlining something that adds too much turbo AND nitrous to your pleasure receptors. People who don't even like each other have conceived children over a bowl of my carbonara.
In fact I'll say this without so much as flinching... for all that you lot might knock me for in terms of not being as good as you all are with cars, there's not a man amongst you who can work a kitchen like I can. I am the alpha male of food prep.
I'm a god of meals.
An enslaver of taste buds.
You've got nothing on me. Go and fiddle with your cars. You're safe there.
