Hi all
I'm new and found my way here as I'm looking for either of these E28's (scarcity means I can't be too fussy) and want to ask the question what is sensible pricing?
I drove an M5 today on for £39k (137k miles), Lachs Silver and 535's vary from £5k to £17k but also hard to find.
Any opinions would be well received as there's a bit hype attached to pricing I feel.
Cheers all

I know you want an E28, but have you thought about the E34 M5, as the prices are still low, with good ones being around £12K to £15K. Can see these being the next car to shoot up in price.

Hi Panda Yes in fact I started looking at E34 M5's before E28 but EDC suspension going wrong can be a nightmare on these and got me spooked! Saying that going to see an Avus Blue E34 next week. E28 is still my preference if going for sensible money Cheers

Indeed, E34 M5s can be very pricey to fix, but they are a lovely car. A cheap M5 can soon become a moneypit ; I wonder if my M3 is like that LOL but I did consider an M5 beforehand ; that said it may have been a brave daily choice in terms of spares and running costs. The fact that you are discounting the the E34 for the E28 for this very reason will alone show there is probably more demand for the E28s which means higher prices. It's not like they are on every street corner either.
The values of M535s and most E28s generally seems to have gone up with the 80s crowd of cars. If you want hype, don't look at Series 1 RS Turbo prices...

Hi ChasR Yes lack of supply of E28's is driving up prices but not enough data to gauge what is a good price for M535 or M5 based on selling price. Anyone got E30 M3's are laughing!

Had an interesting experience with the E34 M5 on the weekend. Cockpit filled with smoke 5 mins after setting off on a drive. OBC flashing SUSP LEVEL sent me packing

couple of nice M535 E28's on ebay at the moment, silver one for 9.7 and a black one just popped up at 15. I'm tempted by the silver one personally. I understand that doesn't help your pricing question.... If it helps I'd pay about 8k for the silver one.

e28's rust like curse word in all the worst places, e34 less so.
I would sooner fix an edc/sls fault on an e34 than chase rot on an e28. you can just bin the edc and fit some decent struts without much bother.
The steering box on the e34 is more of a concern but still pales into insignificance compared to the level of rot on the e28

Haha brilliant, that's one more to remove from my eBay watch list.
Good luck with it, looked a great example.
