Thought I would start a thread on my mk1 fiesta "PAMMY", Bought her in June this year from an advert on here without any real plan on what i was going to do with it. I just needed to buy something to replace my road bike and always fancied an old Ford.
This was the car when i bought it, solid chassis and bodywork but does have its fair share of dents and scratches.
On the drive home I noticed the clutch was slipping and the brakes were only working on the front offside wheel. So i rang up the test centre where i booked it in a quickly postponed its test.
My first Job was to get it through an MOT before throwing too much money at it. I stripped and cleaned up the brakes and replaced the Discs, Pads and shoes for Mintex parts.
I started to clean up the car while i was waiting a couple of weeks for a windscreen repair, whilst cleaning it up i removed the front and rear bumpers and i prefered the look without them on so i blanked up the holes and left them off.
The windscreen eventually got repaired and i booked in for the MOT, just a few days before the MOT i noticed it was sitting funny. Turned out to be a broken spring! so i replaced all 4 corners with 50mm lowering springs.
MOT Day: it flew through and gave me a chance to have a real look underneath to see how solid it was, i was very impressed with only 1 bit of welding needed. The throttle cable did fall onto the exhaust manifold on the way to the MOT though so the only way of getting it home was to stick an exhaust spring on the Carb to open the throttle and hope for the best on the journey home. We made it home but it killed what was left of the slipping clutch. But i knew this would need doing before hand and a new clutch was only £30.
Latest addition to the project is the new wheels, snapped them up for £80 with 4 good tyres on them, They will get a refurb next year and they do need a lower profile tyre on but for now they are fine.
I have also had my girlfriends cousin keeping an eye out for any part exchanges comming into his shop that will be ideal for an engine swap. Ideally i wanted a 1.8 escort, however today he contacted me saying hes got i tatty but good running Ford Puma comming in soon so i may snap that up to salvage the engine, box, ecu and everything else i need!
