It's a shame that the MK6's didn't get the recognition that they deserved. They really did Right the wrongs of the mk5 and in a group test, it came second only to the 306. The 1.3 was a bit old and the 1.4 was a CVH, but the zetecs made these into really good cars

Only just scrapped my mk6 1.8td Estate this year. It had been sat for a couple of years so was too far gone really to economically return it to the road but prior to that it was a superb daily for 3-4 years. I really didn't want it to go tbh, it was on 80k odd but rotten underneath. The other one's a workbench

My headmaster in primary school had a brand spanking new one exactly the same as that, was always immaculate, used to talk to my dad about Fords for ages cos he had a Sierra Cossie at the time. Weird how you remember teachers cars...

Managed to snap a couple today whilst driving about. First off a silver estate which never seems to move but looks quite tidy. Then as I pulled away low and behold the holy grail of mk5 escorts the cosworth!! Bonus van on the way home, again never moves far! Cheer Rob.

If anyone's interested in could well be putting my Java Blue mk5b 4x4 up for sale soon Now that I'm settling into life in BG it's starting to become obvious that the car, which is still in the UK,would be wrecked by the roads out here The plan was to have an RS owning friend to get it legal and drive it over, but it seems it needs a bit more work than I'd hoped. It's running and driving but it seems years of dry "storage" have caught up with it. Being 1 of only 3 cars sold that colour makes it a bit more special to me...... Ahhh we'll see

It's bonkers but I bought a mk6 3door Gti in 2009 that was accident damaged (basically hit a glancing blow on the front os wing at the headlight). I sort of moved it here and there, took it for a mot (failed on welding) and parked it up in a private car park in the town where I was living at the time. All sorts of nastiness then happpened and I had to move miles away but left the Escort where it was. Then I get a letter saying to remove it or it'll be scrapped as it does not have a mot. So I thought about it for a few days and went right I'll show you lot (the council) took it away on the trailer and returned it four weeks later with two new sills, all the welding on the floor done and a mot and tax. I even had it all polished. I figured it was cheaper to do this, park it up again than find storage. Plus I felt it was a big two fingers to those that had grassed me up for it in the first place as of course you can imagine (upon its return) this annoyance at the council, but they couldn't actually do anything as it was motd and taxed ! It sat in this car park like this for 3 years lol. I used to come and pick it up and drop it off with the trailer for its mot. One year it did less than 100 miles. The reason this is funny is because it was parked in a prominent car park in the town which you pass in the way in and all I used to ever do was just take it a run round the town every couple of weeks and put it back in a different space making sure it could be seen from the road. I had friends that chuckled enormously about this. I even chuckle myself still but the funniest point is that it is a white car but I only ever repaired the crumpled front os wing with half a wing from a burgundy Escort just to annoy them even more. Still got it, couldn't really get rid off it. Even pressed it into daily service for 3 months commuting 500 miles a week. Another great irony is that when I finally did pick it up to remove it I turned up in my gf's two year old Slk and made a big show of it all. Happy days. I like my old mk6. It's worth buttons but I have some thoughts about making it a bit quicker.

Keep the pics coming! I have found the following pic which has my MK4 and Mk6 next to each other. Seems to me that the Mk3 is similar to the Mk5 and Ford softened the mk5 to the mk6 in the same way as they did to the mk3 to the mk4. Got to say, I am a right sucker for a MK6 GTi/RS2000 - I think i am ill!

Flicking through the photos on my phone I saw this one at a show last year, not sure about the faux patina, but like the wheels.
