Great to see you back Tony, your metalworking threads have been a massive help over the summer, after I discovered some rot in the floor pans and sills of my e39. I managed to fabricate all my own repair panels taking massive inspiration and guidance from your posts :-)

The car had been parked up for several years, in a lean too garage, with the back end sticking out
Rest of car looks ok, but rear end definetly needs help

Bookmarked, another one really looking forward to reading this. Your work is the benchmark by which I wish all restoration/modification was carried out.

Oh yes, the man who moulds metal with his mind is back! (Sorry, was feeling a bit alliterative).
This will be more education for the rest of us no doubt.

So boxes ticked
- Welding and Fabrication - Big tick
- Great description in a very readable format - Big tick
- BMW 6 banger getting some love - Big tick
Clearly the next step is to "book" and "mark" because to do anything else would be frankly stupid for me.

Thanks for the comments guys, it's great to know that my threads are inspiring others So as we all know by now the only way to fix this is to cut out the rot Then patch panel made and welded in And cleaned off Stiffener needed work And then in Sorry photos are not much of the doing, it didn't seem necessary at the time

You've only got to look at the first boot floor repair section to know this is gonna be yet another superb restoration. Welcome back Tony.

Perhaps you should get sponsored by Flexovit or some other abrasives manufacturer... You've probably inspired more people to get out to the shed and try metal bashing (and use of abrasives) than you realise.
