Oh I have brakes now too !!! Snapped bleed nipple - here's how I fixed the problem :
1 . Hunted the internet for a replacement calliper - got some reply in German from a shop , don't know German
2. I ordered a special nut removing tool from eBay
3. I got bored waiting for the tool to come
4. I figured the valve has a hole all the way down - therefore would guide a drill..... lightbulb
5. Drilled out the valve using larger and large drills until I had drilled out all the valve APART from the thread left in the threads on the caliper from the valve .
6. I picked out the metal left start of the thread
7. Found a bolt that was the same as the thread on the valve - filed three vertical grooves up the shaft of the bolt ( to make a cutting edge and clearance )
8. Used the bolt as a tap to clean out the metal from the thread
9. Tightened up the valve on the bench to reseat it good
Fitted the brake - it didn't work.....
10. Took the valve out and cleaned it out again - there was a piece of metal still in there - repeated 10
I HAVE BRAKES !!!!!! The car gods are smiling on me this week !!!
Actually it it was my friend Sean who suggested drilling it out so I can't take the credit - if you have a seized brake nipple - apart from buying a new caliper this is a good way to save it and is easier than it sounds - because there is a hole to guide the drill you can't go wrong UNLESS you run a bit too big and cut off the threads
