Having tried on a previous visit to Cali, but failing because of a closed shop due to filming, we headed out bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to Foose Design to take their free shop tour.
When we arrived there was already a small group starting to gather, and these two beauties were parking up at the sandwich shop next door.
An interesting contrast in customising style of cars that are only a few years apart.

Onto Foose itself.

It's quite a small shop, three units in a row - one fabrication, one paint shop, and a general assembly area which also houses the gift shop.
First up was this reproduction '32 Coupe body that Chip was converting into a Phaeton. We saw him come and observe the work in progress before they opened the gates for the tour, but he'd disappeared for lunch by the time we were let inside.

This '32 Sedan had apparently been some 15 years in the making before the owner finally relented and let Foose take on the job of finishing it.

We'd love TaB to be so well-appointed with crafting machines such as these!

This is one of Foose's own current projects, a 1971 Mach 1 Mustang grafted onto a 2010 Mustang floorpan, with '70 Mach 1 rear quarters.

Next door, in the paint and body shop, was the Madam X Cadillac, which they were desperately trying to complete for the 2016 SEMA show (bearing in mind we were visiting late-September 2016 and SEMA is at the end of October!)

The dashboard was in another part of the shop, that finish isn't wood or vinyl, but hand-painted onto the metal dash!

Original Foose sketches were dotted around the place...

This 37(?) Phantom Ford Woody had been under construction by another hot rod shop, however the customer had been repeatedly let down and pulled the project, in order to hand it over to Foose for completion.
