Whilst going through my old photos, I found this. I remember it as being red, and it was Ford-based. I don't know if it was a one-off special (this pic is from 1986) made by someone, or if it was an unsuccessful kit. It hasn't been taxed since 1995 (it was registered as a Ford) - my guess is it's probably been scrapped by now. I think it was based on a Capri or Cortina - but don't quote me on that - it's just what i can remember from back then! I am really curious to find out what it was/is. Any ideas?  |

I think I saw an short article in either TKC or Complete kitcar mag.
Wasn't the name some thing like TXP/ XTP or some other 3 letter combo?

I think I saw an short article in either TKC or Complete kitcar mag. Wasn't the name some thing like TXP/ XTP or some other 3 letter combo? It was the TWP, and this one was the flagship 985L model.  |

The past is full of horrible kit cars which look a gazillion time worse than the car that was to be stripped down to provide the mechanicals or a base, (several of which have popped up on here from time to time in the 'for sale' section). e.g. This Landy wannabee the Yak Yeoman didn't even have 4WD but a serviceable Ford Escort had to die so that this monstrosity could be born;  |

I suspect a lot of those kit cars of the seventies never got beyond the demo stage. Wannabe Colin Chapmans or John Deloreans with more ambition than design abilities or business sense. The VW based Nova was one of the better looking ones.
There are differences between those two cars so I presume they did sell at least one, unless it's the same car updated.
