Hi guys, for sale is my 1994 BMW 318is in Hellrot red, with black cloth interior.
I bought the car at the end of October last year from a couple near Manchester. Despite the car being owned by the same family for the majority of it's life and it being maintained as you'd expect, it did have a couple of issues sorting.
The car had a near-kaput gearbox, the throttle was sticking and it was in need of a thorough service. Shortly after purchasing the car, I carried out the necessary work and sourced/fitted a good condition replacement gearbox (and then filled with the highly recommended Redline D4 Synthetic ATF), fitted a new clutch, changed all filters for new items, fitted new spark plugs, fresh oil, new auxiliary belt, new throttle cable, etc (receipts to prove all). The car then flew through it's MOT in November with a small number of advisories, 2 of which were tyres, which have now been replaced with a new set all round, and 1 being a rear number plate bulb out which has now also been replaced.
My intentions for the car were to get a little on-track practice in, so some items have been upgraded to accommodate this. When I was fitting the replacement gearbox, I also fitted a short-shifter as I've always found the stock throw on E36's a bit too significant. The car has had new OEM discs all round along with a set of EBC Yellowstuff Pads which work superbly (also fitted all round). As it was in need of new tyres anyway, I put a new set of Nankang NS2's on the car. A reasonable amount of rear interior trim has been removed to save weight, although I still have all these items and they will obviously go with the car when sold. I should also note that the car has had new oil prior to each trackday out of peace of mind.
The car is now mechanically sound. I've done nearly 2000 miles and 2 trackdays in it, and it's performed faultlessly, whilst being great fun in the process. If you were to use it as I have done, it doesn't really want for anything. Of course being over 20 years old, the bodywork isn't mint, but it certainly isn't bad. The car overall is very solid, I've spent a fair amount of time underneath the car and really am impressed with how solid it is underneath, the MOT tester was of the same opinion! There's a bit of surface rust on the rear arches that could easily be dealt with, and also just under the rear light. As you can see in the photo's there's a bit of lacquer peel on the passenger side door, again, could be sorted without too much hassle. For what it's worth, it's been dry stored for the entirety of my ownership as well.
My reason for letting the car go is that my long-term track car project is very nearly ready to go, and I've not really any use for the 3 series anymore. I've grown quite fond of it and it's served it's purpose awfully well, but as much as these cars are appreciating in value and I could park it up in the garage, it'd be a shame for it not to get used.
Car is located within the RG7 area. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, I'm happy to arrange a viewing and would recommend it/prefer it that way anyway.
