Peugeot 404- BMC Farina- By my estimate that's 8 models from one basic design (Morris Oxford, Austin Cambridge, Austin Westminster, Wolsley, Riley, MG, Vanden Plas 4 Litre R and Peugeot) The 404 shares no components or panels with the BMC Farina cars, so not badge engineering, just two very similar Pininfarina designs released within a year of each other. The Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema and Saab 9000 should be in here though:

Definitely not a Mazda 626. And definitely the most reliable car I've owned, four years and 80,000 miles and not a single problem, not even a blown bulb. Even when I drove it through an unexpectedly deep river. Or beached it on a 4wd track. Or dug it out from 4ft of snow. Or left it to be attacked by keas. Also the Holden Barina has not always been a badge-engineered Corsa - it has also been a Suzuki and a Daewoo. Didn't pick the Kiwi connection until I got to the bit about keas. Seems there're a few of us on here. Does your Telstar have both Ford and Mazda labels under the bonnet? My wife's BG Laser does. Ford on the rocker cover and Mazda on the build plate.

Just google Proton. Everything they make looks like something else, but falls apart quicker. My daily driver is a Proton Impian - which is also a Mitsubishi Carisma / Volvo s40
Have to say though I've owned it for 5 years and the only thing its ever failed the mot on in that time was a steering gaiter, apart from that just replaced usual wear & tear stuff like tyres and the exhaust back box

That looks like it could of been a 2 door ford orion? Unless the photo makes the boot longer? Pretty much what it is. Very MK2 Sierra-esque at the rear. Ford called it the Verona! Didn't Ford also do something this shape in South America but with mk2 Granada style front & rear ends? sure I saw a picture of one once but can't remember what it was called...

Ah, the romantically named Waja. There's no question that Protons are definitely divided into two camps; those for export and those that Malaysians have to suffer. Malaysia has a 100% duty on imported vehicles to keep the populace buying local and, as this creates a captive market, Proton don't give a toss about quality control. A mate of mine there, unfortunate enough to be given a Waja as a company vehicle said he'd rather get a bus as it was, I quote, "A nasty little car." He stamped his feet until they gave him a Volvo, which arrive as CKD kits and assembled there, thus attracting less duty. Export models seem better screwed together, but I suppose if you are only selling six a year overseas, you can take your time!
