Wow, I'm not particularly a VW fan but I'd have probably got shot while wandering around there photographing all the cool stuff!

You say that like being a hoarder is a bad thing. It is. Keepobg hold of stuff you will never ever use that just sits there, just so you can "own" it... the amount of body cuts, saveable chassis and useful parts in there that are just rotting away for no good reason. Its rather wasteful and pointless. Left unchecked it leads to all sorts of problems, health, hygene, physical, and mental health too.

There is some money sitting there!
It is a shame to see it all rotting into the ground.
Nice photos!

Currently driving a 1972 BMW 1602 as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

I would have risked a bit of buckshot for that splitty. So you could sell it on to raise money for a Unimog? LOL More wasted goodness though. No point sweating it, they are all write offs now being guarded jealously by a VW obsessed shotgun toting hoarder. But, well, like I said. Some folk I just don't understand.

I think you are being a little bit harsh as you don't know the background story behind how these cars got there. And if it wasn't for people who hoard stuff, a lot of our classic cars would have been sent to the scrap heap before they were classics and we wouldn't really have many to restore.

Nah, hoarding aint healthy. I've known folk afflicted with it. I'm talking proper hoarding... It's a mental illness, a neighbour where I used to live was afflicted by it, her house was literally a tip, she refused to throw anything away. Garden was the same. The answer was the same when it came to helping her out... "I need that. I might need it."
As for that lot ^ up there... That's not a restoration place, that's not a hive of activity, that's cars sent to die. I suspect the owner started out with a few motors that were parts cars or restos, and got carried away and is now in a place where they won't part with any of it, but won't ever do anything with them.

That's my point, you only suspect. Anyone can do that. I suspect that this guy used to run a VW breakers, but due to ill health has had to stop trading. With no one around to run the business, they have unfortunately have had to let the cars sit and rot. And because everyone who sees the yard thinks that they will get a shotgun pointed at them by a crazed hoarder, no one has asked if any of the cars/parts are for sale. You have seen some photos and because you have known a hoarder, you have made up a story. You may be right, but you don't know the facts.
