Hi, I've just got a '64 Super Minx and I want to drop it a couple of inches. I've got some suitable blocks for the rear, and before I try and get some custom springs for the front made up, couple of questions: Who's good for having custom springs made up? Are there any suitable donor springs that people use for these that give a couple of inches drop? I see in another thread ention of Capri or Escort springs in a Hunter, is there any similar solution for the Super Minx? Any help appreciated. Cheers

Here she is: Haven't started a build thread yet, I may do though when I get started. It's on my sister's drive at the moment, and I don't want to be working on it there and making a mess. I'm on the look out for a lockup and as soon as I can lay hands on one I'll start doing a few bits. First plans really are to change the fluids, have the wheels off and take a look at the discs and pads and probably replace them, as it's got a bit of a judder when braking. There's new shoes in the boot so I'll take a look at them as well and see if they want doing. I'll see how the brakes are after that and might get a servo fitted as I don't believe it has one (and if it does, it's not working! The brakes are pretty dire but they do stop the car, you just have to really lean on it which I guess is normal but I'd prefer it to be better.) The other day it was smoking just slightly when I came to a stop, about half the time, and just for a couple of seconds. I'm wondering if maybe a breather or a leak is just spilling a little bit of coolant or oil on to something hot when I pull up? When I pop the bonnet there's nothing, it doesn't keep doing it - just a couple of seconds every now and then, so I'll have to investigate that. I'll clean the oil off the block and see if it reappears. It's already negative earth so I'm going to put a head unit in, it's had one and speakers on the parcel shelf previously so that shouldn't be too much work, hopefully all the wiring's there anyway. I'd like speakers up front and will see about where I can put them. Don't really want to do it in the door cards if I can help it, although I guess if I do a nice job there's no harm in it. I reckon I will probably get it converted to an alternator as it's on a dynamo at the moment and some better headlights would be nice, plus I wonder if it'll struggle with the stereo in it. There's also obviously the lowering, I've got some springs on order now and the blocks have arrived already, and I've got some Rostyles I got off eBay for £40 that look like they'll clean up ok, one is a bit dinged up around the rim but I think I can probably deal with that with a mallet. She really wants new carpets too. I'm also planning on wrapping the lower half of the dash in gloss red as I'm not a big fan of the wood, and hopefully gonna get a metalflake moon steering wheel from my other half for my birthday That's the plan really, just intending to keep it for sunny days, shows and club runs etc. Like I said, I'll put a thread in Reader's Rides soon, but I won't have any progress to report just yet so I'll probably leave it til I get going!
