So here's the replacement for the Demio. It's still working a week after being bought for £400 so I'm pretty happy. It's got rusty rear wheel arches, various bumps and scratches and an on load running issue that causes it to stutter between 3&4, the worst wheels in the world and is far too high off the ground. All my "spare" money is going into slot car projects at the mo, so progress will be slow. The rear looks like golf coilovers would work, not sure about the front though. It'll probably just get the OEM springs shortened initially. I'd like some wide dishy 15's on it so will keep an eye out. I've also considered the Capri pepper pots that I have in the garage, surprisingly with only a slim spacer they do fit over the brakes. But I think the arches are just too big and the chances of lowering enough too slim to make them work. But if anybody had some 165/55'd for me to try them out :-) .....

Bookmarked, I had a mk6 escort years ago and tried my mates rs four spokes from his mk1 escort and it was the same, about a 5mm spacer on the front and they would go straight on. Keep thinking about getting one of these and making it as low as possible.

Rear wheel Drive Wheels on a Front Wheel Drive Car the offsets are all to cock that's why they won't just fit on.

Rear wheel Drive Wheels on a Front Wheel Drive Car the offsets are all to cock that's why they won't just fit on. Offset of the Capri wheels puts the outer lip pretty much exactly where I'd want it. I'm a big fan of low offset wheels on everything. The last car ended up with 9" wide wheels on et0, the one before that had 8" wide on -13 on the rear. 7's on et5 is pretty tame. Kill all the wheel bearings!

Lowering should put that wheel in the perfect position. This track prepped Puma is on 13's, all be it with chunkier rubber than I would run, but I like it a lot.

I can't wait to see how this will evolve with your usual magic touch. Could these VW cool fans fit on the pepperpots for proper touring car race looks?

Yeah I remember with the rs fours there was just the right amount of 'poke' Some turbo fans would look damn fine too.

I think the wheels would need to be larger to pull off the turbo fan look. But hey, never say never.

I am very much looking forward to seeing this below the floor with some ingenious MBog turbo fan trims on 14" banded steels. Kthxbi.

On load running issue seems to have been solved by cleaning the MAF, don't really believe it yet so will see what happens after a few more miles. I broke the air box getting it off, so have binned it completely in favour of a Halfords special cone filter. The induction noise has increased nicely, and the rattling from the already loose air box and inner wing intake pipe has been eliminated, so it's a win all round. I don't suppose there has been any performance improvement, but meh.

Have one I;m currently restoring, great little cars
If you want a bit more performance you can fit some FRP parts to the engine, cams, ECU etc and get it up to 150-170 bhp .
Can't wait to see what you do with it!

the wheels look like mk2 mondeo (oval grill) wheels, 15" fitted to Verona spec cars (used to have one)

I didn't know you'd sold the demio, looking forward to seeing what you do with this. I think a slightly stretched fat wall tyre like this could look nice on a 13"...

I'd think the original wheels could be massively improved just by leaving the centre caps off, if not painting the spokes (& caps) slightly darker. Agree they look a little lost in the arches @ that ride height.
Crisper shape of pepper-pots does compliment the body well so shame about offset that would look foolish unless slammed (& awesome afterward), but you must be used to doing that by now...
Congratulations upon extra sound effects, & best wishes for sorting out running issue

I think a long time ago I saw your micra on the M20 and recognised it. Hunted through here and found your build thread. Since then I have slowly watched quietly.
I have to say I do enjoy your cars and what you do with them. I am surprised your last one has gone, I really liked that.
These Pumas o think are pretty cool. The 1.7 engine is very good, I ised to have one in my Mk5 ZS.
I look forward to your progress.
