So As my Mk2 Fabia VRS had died of a painful death ( I now know) and didnt want to waste £4,000 pound ona new engine what Skoda quoted me, but wasnt needed (I now know) i decided to sell it as a Non Runner and see what I got for it. Put it on Ebay for 10days at a silly price of £3,500 just so I could barter with people I got some silly offers and declined them and let its run its 10 day course. No buyers this time so put it up for an additional 5 days and a lower price of £2,500 and had some genuinely decent offers one guy sent me an offer of £1,800 and thought I'd accept it as I wasn't going to get my £2,000 that I always wanted so I took it, and as soon as I did a guy messaged me asking would I be interested in his fully working, no problem Alfa 159, as much as I wanted, well needed a car that ran, I didnt want to run the risk, as every other Alfa I have seen is sat on the side with its Hazards flashing but on the other hand it could've been a decent motor but no, i took the cash offer instead.
So few days go by and two lads from Manchester come down have a look over it part cash and say that a delivery truck will come tomorrow to pick it up, V5 signed and sent the following day and off we all went in our own directions - I actually live half hour from where the was dropped off by the tow truck. So before I carry on this is a tiny good bye to this beast, and my it was when it ran..one for good memories:
So a few days go by and I'm hunting Ebay, Gumtree, Local ads for a van..don't ask why but ive always hankered after a car-derived van espeically a Ford. I'll be honest I wasn't particulary looking at a Mk6, i orignally wnated a Mk3 or Mk4, the one with the rectangle headlights I don't know why it's just the look of them brings me back to my childhood perhaps. But i found a decent'ish one eventually up in York (approx 2hrs from me), so myself and miss oldclassics set of with pooch and went for a drive to have a look at it, and exactly as the advert said it was in good nick, couple of dents but they can be sorted eventually and the lad said the brakes will need doing - he wasn't wrong, just a tad spongy first time i put the brakes on i slammed them on and I skidded to a stop, nearly hitting the guy infront but the smell was lovely so i paid a whopping £550 for it, paid tax and swapped insurance over and drove it home. -
Ins & Outs of it
- 1. (non turbo)
- White
- 77.400 - (I was gobsmacked when I saw that)
Photo as soon as I got it back home:
And no sooner than I had taken that photo miss oldclassics got her cleaning stuff out and cleaned all the loading bay up on her own accord I may add - bless her.
The first little modification I did was to the reverse lights, don't like that yellow light? Fit some bright white led's in their place
Then I went on ebay after, looking for some alloys, and came across these 'fan blades' from a Ford Puma, just need to send them off for a refurb and fresh spray of RAC Orange:
A friend at work said he has a spare stereo at home, sitting in the garage he'll dig it out and give it to me, so i said thanks, and went away with it, not bad a Sony one, cant grumble, he did say the person who sold it too before said the radio didn't work, i think this could've been they may have needed an adapter which I now have along with some harness leads all for a whopping price of £7.something

I took it for a quick wash at the locals just 2minutes from work and when I parked it up I noticed that a bit of the paint had came off the bumper, hmm, I know what I'll do, I'll finish the job off as I want a white bumper anyways, so popped down to my cousins and done the following:
Looks 100x better already although I do think someone has painted that the Frozen white as it's slightly brighter than the van but it's only temperary as I'll be getting one with fog lights in but run them as DRL's - as really when do we need fog lights nowadays?
the next big job on the list will be brakes- a well known motorfactors with black logo with orange text and rhymes with Rip off quoted me £600 fitted, I've priced the (new) parts up myself at a whopping £178 and a mate to help me with just a few beers/ciders in return
But that's as far as I've gone with it currently, just a list below with future plans which may be added onto as the time goes on....
- Ply-line & Carpet the loading bay
- Find a cage that sits on top of the bulkhead
- Add additional Speakers and possibly a sub in the loading bay
- Get the dash sprayed up in RAC Orange
- Add a flashing beaon to the roof
- Fit out fittings etc for various stuff in the loading bay
