bodywork repair - Rear quater and sill replacements

hi all

right i have a new project after having to call it a day with the old one however the new project requires full restoration which I'm going to under take most of.

the question i have is rear quarter replacement and sill replacement - any reccomendations for a individual/company to do them and what should i expecting cost wise.

i have all the panels and all the panels are genuine manifacture products. no patten parts at all so really what is involved with the replacements and what costs am i looking at

after fitting its having a full respray as hence car will be rolling but mostly stripped out when it goes in for quaters

Without seeing the vehicle and understanding what is involved and what the clients requirements are it's impossible to say - you may well have genuine replacement panels but until the vehicle is viewed the repairer has no idea has to what he is fixing the panels back to - i.e. does the inner sills / inner wheelarch require remedial repairs prior to fitting the panels & how much work is involved in removing trim, fuel lines, wiring etc in order to proceed / undertake the repair. I get this question all the time down the end of the phone 'How much to restore the body / paintwork on my car' Again it's impossible to quote without seeing the vehicle and has for the 'Well can you just give me a ball park estimate' crowd - drives me bonkers!

It's like calling a builder and asking him how much to build my extension without him seeing the plans or the property first - find yourself a couple of decent repairers by recommendation and take the vehicle to them or get them to come and look at it and they will happily supply you with a detailed estimate.

I can't recommend anywhere having not had work like this done but I found this company a while back that looks good, but there must be loads about it's just a case of finding them.

I see that you Dorset / Berkshire based - maybe you could advise of the cars location then forum members could suggest some recommendations for you - I am Berkshire / Hampshire boarders based if it helps but I have long lead times however my advice is freely given - Chris

christ thats something i forgot to update. origninally worked in hampshire and lived in berkshire however now i live and work in the cotswolds after settling down a bit

cars in highworth at atm - thats where I'm going to start undertaking the mamoth job of stipping it down bit so its just a rolling shell

I can highly recommend Cotswold Panels ( cotswoldpanels.co.uk/ ) although I know their wait list is getting longer all of the time but it's worth giving them a call for a very rough ball park figure as they are just up the road from you in Ciren. I've had work done on my car there as have friends (also helps that a mate works there, don't get a discount though).

I'd also recommend Rich in Yate ( en-gb.facebook.com/richsbodyworkandrestorations/ ) although I don't know if he's still going but he is/was well priced and does good work, again, worth a call and not too far from you.
