I'm sad.
Not often you get someone with the requisite skills to actually complete such a lunatic idea actually doing it.
Could you scale back your plans and fit a shorter engine (BMW boxer for example) to make the packaging easier? Or are you mentally done?
In that case, what's next??

think I missed something...is it going in the bin , or just being rebuilt in a little less psycho form??

Would a K75 solve your space issues?

Are you still going to do something based on an Ape? Or is it back to the drawing board completely? I have to say, that whilst this has been hugely entertaining to follow so far, I really donβt blame you for having a rethink.
So. Whatβs next?

Maybe you should do an Ape based RX-2 Or an RX-2 powered Ape. Or an Ape powered RX-2. I don't mind... But I sure will follow along with delight

Ok. Confession time. I am not happy with the Bmw conversion for a number of reasons, hence dropping the idea. Whilst it's flat enough to hide,it's just too long. I need short. I did come up with a workable solution,at the expense of a differential,so solid axle. Not the end of the world, but a lot of work for not a lot of gain, after all ,the K100 engine is only 90hp. Ok,a bit of an improvement over the 2,4bhp it originally had. The 5 speed gearbox would also have been an improvement over the 4 speed. My gut feeling though,is it would be a half arst attempt. I don't do half arst... Full Aarst or nothing...π So, when one of the forumites suggested I pay him a visit I did. Had a small box of goodies for me Cool. π An ignition switch and some wires. Will come in handy And a speedo and Rev counter. Along with other bits and bobs a couple of things that look remarkably like an ecu.... "And there is a box by the gate for you too", said V8ian... Totally blown away by V8ians generosity. A real gent and a proper petrolhead. His little A30 ,Toyota powered is going to be an absolute gem.πThank you Ian π So what was in the box? The answer to my problem, all 135hp of it and it's six speed gearbox πππππ Suzuki TL1000R V twin, for when the thought of a long German 90hp Bruinhilder just doesn't blow your hair back.....

Yes! I was going to suggest mounting the gearbox pointing straight up so the engine sits on end, but this is far more sensible!

If I had any kind of knowledge to put it to use and funds and time I would have shown interest in that engine for the Acty so Iβm glad youβve put it to use.

You will be my entertainment while I'm locked out of the garage during my recovery from my knee replacement on Friday morning I wasn't about to like this post. But yes,I shall try my best to keep you amused. πNot that I can see you being out the workshop for long. πThe sooner you get moving, within reason, the better. And, whilst the Omlettes in hospitals are generally not too bad,the sooner the quack is happy with you moving about, the sooner you get sent home,(where you can conjure up more cool plans for your A30!)

I am really glad to see this back on track. What are you going to do with the BMW bits , sell them or do an alternative trike like the Grinnall?
