What have you been buying for your m3? My plans for this year are to leave the escort mk2 in the garage, get my Capri back from restoration and probably park that up for a bit. I’ve got a z4 I inherited which I need to get sorted as my sister wants it at her wedding as it was our dads car. My m3 I’ve currently got no front suspension on it as I’m doing a refresh job on it. Once that’s done. I’ll start on the back, it’s abit too new I think for here. Yikes, your refresh sounds expensive! Are you going stock? I've just bought the following: -Genuine Prop Guibo and Prop Bearing with carrier ; I don't want to do that job again and I'm not really looking forward to being full underneath the car! -X8R mid-section to back box clamps with gaskets. -Castrol 10W60 Oil ; OK, that was an ECP specialist The Guibo and Bearing are a job I've put off ever since I bought the car ; the guibo has a crack on it and there is a clunk/noise coming from the bearing area with a vibration that comes and goes and 50MPH and 80ish. I'll be adding soon to the list: -New thermostat (Wahler or Genuine) with BMW or G48 coolant -Rod bearings as an insurance policy given the mileage and age of my car ; it's had a bearing recall previously at some point ; How pricey are S54 engines? -Wheel refurb (my fault) or get the CSL copies. ; that will be miles away. I was debating selling it last year but no matter how you look at it no package with that level of stuff comes cheap except the 350z, where you lose practicality and an engine note. Last year wasn't cheap however ; I could have gone cheaper in some bits but previous cars have bitten me very hard where I have done against my better judgement. theleylandlegends.wordpress.com/category/car-ownership/bmw-e46-m3/?order=ascI'd love a CSL airbox but it's about priorities. It sounds like you will be a busy man this year! What's up with your Z4? Just read through your blog, excellent read, the cars looking well, I need a new power steering pipe, I was going to ask pirtek to sort it, where did you get yours? I'm going pretty much stock, I've a thread on detailing world, www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=392402The z4 hasn't been used for two years, just needs a general clean up and the thermostat plastic housing is leaking.

This year is going to be a tough car year for me. Plan is to get something sorted for The Weekender and I need to get the 2300S back in action and I need to get Monza 1 back on the road. Then I have an estate car to do, 2 more Monzas and a Mini Cooper and an SD1 that'll need some of my time.
Current budget for the above is about 36p

I've scratched the V8 and the Subaru's burble itch. They both gave me a headache. I hear a presumably modern German V10 thing thunder by my house... wonder how long that would take to be sick of? Only one way to find out😼

Ensure the daily passes it’s MOT swiftly and without breaking the bank at the end of this month then potentially swap my mk2 golf back to a 1.3 from 20v so I can actually drive it. Buying a donor mk3 is far cheaper than a new hybrid turbo and remap and and and

restore 2 pickups, 2 convertibles and 2 vans. Seriously considering whether I should ask for help, some kind of car restoration exchange. Someone brings their car here and i spend a day working on it with them, then they spend the next day working on my car etc etc until the cars are done!

Cheers! It's been annoying at times and the oil cooler saga has really put me off ever recommending a certain online motor factor ever again, and expenisve but then again it is an M car. My friend made the hose for me. If you want me to source you one let me know. It's around 1/2 of the price of BMW by the time you consider discount ; unlike the Pirtek item it is the same as the original except it is missing a restrictor, which the factory banjos have anyway.

This is the plan, can't see it all working out but start with good intentions!
Finish welding up the Opel Sintra by the end of February when it's got TÜV ( MoT). It's a load of graft for a worthless heap but I'm enjoying it surprisingly. Renault 21 Nevada will be thirty in August so I've got to spruce that up for its 'historical vehicle status' test.
Finish my 'deep background' project : a camper trailer to carry the roof tent that normally goes on the Cruiser. It has a slide out kitchen ( already finished) and the tent elevates +80cm on 12v linear actuators.
And with all the leftover time...
Finish building up the V6 and offer it up to the black Tigra. Yeah right!

Hopefully do a lot of small annoying bits on this. Replace interior light, the little pull push locks inside, screw the dash back together... then sit in it, engine on, point it approximately straight and hope for the best... Also maybe some seatbelts...

need to finish my mk1 Cortina off and make sure the engine is reliable . didn't drive it properly once this year due to mechanical issues.
I also need to bin the negativity around it, and certain people from my life who say 'you cant do it and it wont ever be done' as that really got me down about it all. might do a thread on here to keep the mojo going .
if I just get that done, realistically I would be happy. fingers crossed

'TBBO'- (To be better organised) - You would think that I am on top of my game reading my restoration threads - well maybe I am (apologies if I sound conceited) but everything else suffers has a direct result - I have 3 classics in my ownership outside all requiring attention plus another 2 full restoration projects of mine so the plan is clear the decks and organise a few areas that should make my life a little easier so the outline is:
Sort the garage loft / space / storage - install lighting, power & air supply, a bench, along with purchasing a couple pieces of kit that I have been promising myself for the last 24 months - I will also have to purchase further shelving and I have already put a ban on SWMBO storing / keeping / retaining anything further up there - Phase 1 is already underway with a general clean out and taking advantage of the skip that is currently getting filled up outside the garage door.
Admit that I just don't have the time to sort the mechanical stuff in the short term on my own motors and that my time is better spent on clients restorations - therefore get / pay someone that I have in mind to come and sort the stuff on my own fleet.
Get the drive / parking area reconfigured to make a better use of the space out there - hence giving me less lawn to cut which is a bonus in my book and resolves the constant time absorbing moving motors around to free up parking space
Sort / start & finish the utility on the house over the coming months
Now I appreciate that quite a few of these resolutions are not car based which defeats the thread subject - however my main aim is to free myself up / create more time that I can then spend on my own fleet / own restorations - hopefully plan 'TBBO' will allow that

My new years resolutions are to get my escort estate painted now that my house is finished (inside at least) get the engine in it and take it to some shows at last, then get my escort van home as I haven't touched it since January. Not saying it will be finished next year but hey it'll be a start!

Hand on heart I can say that the 75 I bought for my parents has to be the best bargain I ever bought. My daily Audi at the same age cost about 3 times more and only does half a good a job...

Beauty of my MG is I literally paid pennies for it so can use it as a play thing
