I’ve been here since 2006. I was pointed here from Retro Cars magazine.
I actually found the magazine a few days ago. I’m sure I took a photo of the page (recommended websites) but I can’t seem to find it.

I joined in 2010. Can't believe I've been lurking here for (nearly) 8 years! I also only use this forum now, whereas in days gone by I used to always have 4/5 forums up on tabs in my browser. Long live RR!

Yeah Facebook is okay at a bunch of things, really good at a bunch of things and really bad at a load of things. Forums are great at some things and bad at some things and need to get a lot better at a load of things think I need to re-visit this statement in the cold light of 2018....baileys is dulling the resident brain cell!
any roads...happy new thingy everyone!!!!

I've only been on here since June 2008 and I can't comment about Facebook as I've never been on it, but the reason why I think that this forum has lasted is because we don't stand for haters like other forums I've been on.
HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

Wow, I just noticed I only joined in 2011, I thought it was longer... Since then there was hardly a day I wasn´t round here. It´s like a virtual living room to me. No farcebooker either, but I saw other forums impaired through it. Same here 2011 it's the only car forum I look at regularly

It doesn't seem possible that RR has been around 14 years! I joined in July 2004 after my Mercedes W115 got flyered at Santa Pod. I still have the Mercedes and I'm still on RR!
Here's to another 14 years (and more) of RR!

I've only got five and narf years in. Nooob Still by far the nicest and most egalitarian place on the internet I think any forum that encourages the use of Facebook is basically booking itself into Dignitas. At least two forums that I'm on used to be vibrant places full of chat and interaction as well as the more "forum-y" stuff like How-Tos and build threads. Since Facebook took hold they're ghost towns... the only regular traffic left is For Sale threads because people realise they drop off the page into oblivion too quickly on Facebook and are lost. Everything else is gone. To me it's like cassettes...someone'd do you a mix tape or record a new album and it was oooookay-ish but some tracks sucked massive donkeys and trouble was, you had to put up with all the dross to get to the good schmutter. Or spend ages FFing and still miss what you were looking for. And stretch the bloody tape until it got wound round in your Blaupunkt and chucked onto the hard shoulder of the M4*. Then CDs came along and it was instant access so you could go straight to the decent stuff again and again. Like being able to listen to Echoes+ without ten minutes of infuriating sonar pings and dolphin whistles in the middle. Forums are digital bliss where you can ignore curse word with a single click and revel in immediate wonderfulness. Facebook is an endless loop of NOW 26 without even I've Got The Power to look forward to So please, FB, stay off my back or I will attack. And you don't want that *other motorways are available +ask yer dad

but what was the actual first picture and/or post posted by a member and not by an admin? First non-admin thread : forum.retro-rides.org/thread/5Sadly the early pictures have gone mostly as websites went down and didn't get renewed.

Very abstract!
And 2 posts on the same day, which was the second day of this forums life and then nothing.
Feel a conspiracy theory growing here......

And to make up for the missing pictures: I love 60's Nascar! One of the things that make this forum great, is the pictures (Photobucket has a lot to answer for!) and the "just show" attitude.

I've been registered since 2005, not the most active poster but always browsing. Truth is, this forum is the reason I built this. I wonder how many other builds simply would not have evolved or gone in a particular direction without this forum?!

My April 2004 retro (in my opinion, not provoking others) ride! Any other cars that are now generally accepted as part of this community are younger than itself?
