First up, photos in here were taken by me with a phone camera, so apologies for image quality!
I'd heard a bit about this meet last year but never managed to make it to one, then it just so happened that I was in Bristol this weekend which coincided with (I believe) the first one of 2018, so I thought I'd go check it out!
I'd read that it was best to get there early to be able to park up so it was just after half 7 when I arrived
I was in the RX7, not looking particularly clean or anything, but oh well thats daily driver life for you
At this point there were a few people around and cars were continuing to arrive
I think the 348 gets unfairly looked down on because of how sublime the following 355 is/was. But seeing this 348 in person still makes you realise how cool they can be in their own right
(The image uploader seems to be mixing up the order when I do more than one pic so apologies for the backlighting being a bit all over the place!)
While not retro at all, this 350z was hiding a cheeky little secret in the form of a centrifugal supercharger
Attempt at a 355 action shot
After I'd done a quick loop of the square, I noticed my car had been joined by a somewhat lightweight looking Smart car. Must have been bracing in the January weather!
My car wasn't the only one going for the late 80s Japanese, dirty red car look
Evo fronted Proton Jumbuck needed a hit from the lowering stick
TVR up to no good.. (Actually everyone seemed really well behaved in the time I was there, and the police seemed happy enough to have a chat with car owners, good to see!)
Audi R8 rubbing shoulders with a Citroen CX Turbo, as you do
There were quite a few Porsches about, for anyone who's into that sort of thing
It was about this time that I believe Felix of this parish rumbled past in his C4 Corvette, sorry I couldn't get a better pic!
There were a few White fast Fords about
R33 Skyline clearly not a Ford, Focus RS on the corner does count though
Fast Fords of differing eras
Thought I'd try and be a bit arty with this Ford Van (yeah I dunno American van models) and Celica shot
Then something really special turned up which I wasn't expecting to see at all, a Bristol Fighter! (rather apt I guess given the location...)
By this point, there was a steady stream of cars coming into the Square so I just carried on walking about seeing what was new each time
I found myself oddly drawn to the colour of this Mustang, maybe theres something wrong with me, or its one for the automotive guilty pleasures thread
Diesel 205 nipping past could have just been a daily driver
Then a small county passed me
Not sure if the owner of the Volvo 240 is on here, but the car was giving me a very RR kinda vibe
Got a stationary pic of the 355 from earlier, manual with open gated shift, really doesn't get much better than that for me. In my mind I still see the 355 as being a peak moment for the 'classy' supercar, something that I think has been lost with subsequent models
I didn't get any other photos of it but this wide bodied BMW 1502 had appeared near my car, sporting an M60 V8 engine swap and most curiously for me, an RX8 interior swap. I liked how they hadn't stopped at just swapping the front RX8 seats in, which seems to be fairly popular these days, but had made the rear bench fit as well as the centre console that runs between the seats. Clearly a lot of hours had been put in!
I'm a sucker for a Rover 800 and any TVR featuring the Speed Six engine
Nice Lagonda helps bring the average age of cars in this thread back up a bit
Another C4
Nice older Chevy
Collection of wings
Civic Jordan looking nice and tidy
And I just got this pic of a Celica Supra as my phone was running out of charge
A shame really as there was more stuff parked up that I hadn't seen yet and more cars arriving all the time, however by this point I couldn't really feel my toes so called it a day. Was a really cool meet I thought in a nice setting with a real varied selection of cars, I'll certainly drop by again if I happen to be in the area
