Sold/Recieved money for a car, which hasn't been removed

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone's been in a similar position..

Sold a car via eBay (spares or repair, so does need trailering away). Took the guy a week to come and make sure he was happy with it (even though he hit buy it now). Then took another week and a half (and me starting an un-paid transaction case) before he finally paid, and we sorted the paperwork. He said his mate was going to come and pick it up during the week, but hasn't, and I haven't heard anything. Communication generally hasn't been great and I feel like i've done my part in terms of being helpful.

It's still sitting on my driveway. Considering it's nearly 3 weeks since this started, i'm tempted to say 'look I need my driveway back, so I'll give you to the end of the weekend, then I'm putting it on the road, and you take your chances' (as it's no longer mine).

I myself have never been in this position but it sounds most frustrating, I think you sound as if you have been very patient and are well within your rights to do as you say. After all it's no longer your car. Either that are start charging him a parking fee for each day his car is on your drive

This was on radio2 last week
Anyone can park on your driveway and there is nothing you can do about it
If you touch Thier car you can be done ,seems crazy
Having said that if anyone did it to me they would come back and their car would nowhere to be seen:)

Perhaps give him some B/S about a lot of cars being broken into around your way when no ones there ?

Might get his arras in gear.

Nosey neighbours at least...
About 6 years ago I stupidly left my untaxed e30 outside my house and a week later it had been towed!

I'd do that.
Have you sent the slip back to the DVLA? Got proof that the buyer has paid for the car?
You have no loyalty towards them whatsoever, it was a business transaction and he was a pain in the a**e to do business with anyway.
Personally, I would contact him, ask him exactly when the car was being picked up, nail him down to a day and wait for it to happen.
If it doesn't happen then, inform him that he has had ample opportunity to pick HIS car up from YOUR property but has failed to do so, so you are going to move it off of your property and onto the highway.
He can collect it from there at his leisure.

Sounds like the guy is using you as temporary storage. I had similar with a car I sold, but that was only a fortnight of his car sitting in my garage.

I had the same thing happen to me
Sold a Range Rover (without an engine) as spares or repair
Took a week for the bloke to come and look at it then he said he would get his mate to collect it on his truck the following week
Two weeks later I emailed him to find out what was going on and he said his mate can't collect it as its to heavy
But he would come and pay for it and do the paperwork etc which he did
By now I had moved it from the back garden to the front drive (so it's in my way now)
It took him another 3 weeks to collect it

I did play it safe by not sending the V5 off "just in case"
But it was getting to the point where I was going to tell him I will put it on the road if he didn't collect it soon

offer to invoice him for £100 per day storage if not removed , I'm sure it will soon go!

To give this thread a bit of a conculsion.. I did do exactly that - told him he had until the end of the weekend then it was gone. Recovery truck turned up Monday morning for it :-)
