Forum stalwart Dez has suffered a devastating fire at his workshop, and based purely on a few photos it seems pretty clear that he’s lost more or less everything. Dez is more than just a hobbyist; Hotrods are his way of life, and his livelihood, and as such this is a massive blow to him, and I’m sure will take some time to overcome. Please use this thread to offer any help you can, so that Dez can read it and accept whatever kindness he needs at that time. This has literally just happened, so I don’t have any details yet, nor do I know what he might need. I doubt he does yet either, or has even really processed what’s happened. A Just Giving page has been set up to help Dez get through the initial period where he’s effectively unable to earn a living: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/james-hill?utm_id=1&utm_term=6kWjXdGWR

Bloody hell that's awful. One of my worst nightmares is my workshop burning down. Hopefully the RR community will rally round, he's a top bloke is Dez.

D: That's terrible news. Hope Dez is okay otherwise.

If everyone that has had a bit of tech help from Dez or legal stuff answered over the years dropped in a tenner, that would see the pot swell very quickly.
I'm sure once he knows where he is and what is going on he'll have a bunch of stuff he needs to replace and there may be members of the community with that stuff going spare, so hopefully we can help him get it all back together again.

Absolutely gutted for you man, you've helped me out with so much advice and guidance over the last couple of years, so ive chucked a bit in the donation pot and the offer of help fixing stuff up is there whenever you need an extra pair of hands.

Is it possible to donate via Paypal directly? I don't really want to sign up to another website but I do want to put some money in the pot.

Dez has helped me often with S10 advice, BMX advice and I just generally enjoy reading his stuff. Donated!

Donated as soon as I saw it come up even though I've never spoken to him directly, the tech stuff he posts is well worth it.
All the best and hopefully you come out on the other side of this.
You can donate via PayPal through the just giving site, all you need to do is enter your name and email, and a password, it's no real hassle, not like signing up to most websites nowadays. Took less than 2 mins (just opt out of them recommending stuff for you to donate to)

You say that, but I've signed up to other sites that claim the same, opted out, and still got spam. Even unsubscribing multiple times from their mailing lists didn't resolve this. I don't want to end up with yet more spam, but I do want to help.

I just followed the link and it came up with card, or PayPal. Unless that information is out dated. I imagine they'd be pretty good being a donation website as if you got annoyed with spam email you'd just block the sender and never donate again.

I've never been asked for anything other than a name on just giving and PayPal goes through every time. No signing up and no spam. I've chipped in, never met you or spoken to you Dez but from a fellow car friend this seems like an awful situation!

I am happy to donate on people's behalf if they want to send it via my PayPal. I will post screen caps of incoming payments and of my donations.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum
