.....Hyundai Pony!!! ;D It has an engine. Also some doors, and some wheels. It goes and stops. It was the price of a night out with full tax and test! Now flogging the Volvo and rattling my way around the place in the Pony-and-trap (that's what it's short for, right?! ). Well, it'll spur me on to get the Benz finished! Goes without saying that the thing will be lowered, and I've noticed most J-metal has the same 4x114 PCD!! Pics to follow when it's light!

I should rephrase - most J metal has the same PCD as the Hyundai (which as you rightly say, is Korean! It'll spare the Benz the salted roads though, and yeah I hope to do a few tweaks to smoke some of the Barry boys - it's a Mitsubishi 1.5 engine so it can't be that bad! It's a bit crusty around the edges, but I don't really mind - it'll probably be thrown away at the end of the winter and certainly before the next MoT is due... It has been dubbed "The Donkey" though by friends and family!

You're forgiven! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Sounds like a good plan to me. Could be worse, a donkey is at least useful and even admired in some countries, I've lately given the motability Zafira (that I had the dubious honour of valeting today ) the nickname "The Slug" since it's slow as hell and sort of looks like a slug! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Is there a make of car you haven't owned BenzBoy? ;D I do like to mix-and-match!! I don't think I make a very loyal customer ;D I wish it was one of the first Pony's - or even the mid-80's ones. But no, it's the Pony X2 (although one is quite enough! ;D) Found out they're Mitsubishi engines so maybe there's something that can be done to tweak it

Those early ones do look very Leyland-esque! No wonder they share the same PCD as a lot of Austin stuff!

Cool! I never knew they shared stuff with Itals! Looks wise this one seems quite Chrysler Sunbeam to me! At the front anyway.

Found out they're Mitsubishi engines so maybe there's something that can be done to tweak it The best choice would be using the Hyundai 1500cc Turbo engine... It has about 115HP and was fitted to the sports version of the Excel/Pony called the SCoupe. But any FWD Mitsubishi engine would do... And there is a local SCoupe that has a Lancer Evo III engine... So the sky is the limit

It has been dubbed "The Donkey" though by friends and family! My mates have nicknamed the Derby 'Donkey' too. 'Donkey-Derby' ....... gettit?! IMHO Keep the Pony as you intend - as a winter hack, concentrate all of your efforts on the greater cause - the MBenz
