14-01-2018 i stripped the inlet down today as I'm going to take it to the engine shop to go into the hot wash with the sump and cylinder head, I'm glad i decided to do this as the inlet is really filthy inside so wont do it any harm to be cleaned. i have also discussed getting my flywheel lightened by them which ill be going ahead with orderedn following parts complete head gasket set with oe spec payen gasket victor reinz head bolts complete bottom end gasket set cam belt/tensioner and water pump high pressure oil pump ARP con rod bolts i have also bought a full engine nuts/bolts/studs/washers etc set from retro bolts so we know we will have fresh stuff and nothing missing or incorrect.

12-02-2018 Had a really productive day building the engine yesterday, gotta say a huge thanks to my good mate karl for giving up alot of his sunday to come and help out. as you will see from the pics, crank, sump, pistons, rings, rods, oil and water pumps, pulleys, cam belt, headgasket, cylinder head, newman cam and mechanical lifters (fiddly feckers), rockers etc all have been fitted just got a slight adjustment on a couple of the lifters to do then they are all good. just placed rocker cover on to keep any curse word out and also blocked off inlet/exhaust ports since the last pic was taken.

18-02-2018 my good mate karl was over again yesterday and gave up a good part of his saturday to help with building more bits of the engine up, also had time to build the new engine crane up (no pics sorry) turbo oil feed/engine mounts/ht leads/alternator/belt and crank pulley fitted. new cosworth oil pressure switch and stack oil pressure gauge bits fitted coil/dipstick fitted and quite a bit of time spent on getting the solid lifters bang on for the cam, very fiddly job for sure.

03-03-2018 not a great deal to update on, no progress was made last weekend due to other commitments and nothing will be happening this weekend for same reason and also down to karl injuring his back at work on monday. I'm hoping we can do some on it next weekend but will just have to see how things go, we really aint that far off finishing now.
otherwise i did recieve a few new bits, helix clutch release bearing and new reverse light switch. I also had my turbo crossover pipe repaired by a local engineering company and helicoiled by dave rushton. If anyone knows these cars they will know the 2 bolt hole areas on the pipe always seem to break away and thread wears out which means ht lead bracket is no use and they just sit all over the place in the hot engine bay which looks really untidy imo.

Thats bloody clean behind the bumper ! its surprisingly solid in there and the engine bay etc, i think we also did a nice job of fitting the airtec stage 2 radiator and stage 1 fmic kit. Its all hidden lovely behind front bumper and is a huge improvement over what was in there, oe rad was shot to pieces.

Well I hope I see you boosting around the local area in this little motor I'm now thinking of happy memories of festival park I am hoping to get plenty of miles on the car this year once the engine goes back in. Whereabouts in stoke are you fella? Also what motor are you currently driving or have a project happening with. Some great times down there back in mid/late 90s with my older brother in various motors.
