Hi guys thought i would share with you my 1990 Fiesta RS Turbo.
I bought the car back in feb 2016 for 3.8k as a non runner and had been pretty unloved for around 2-3 years.
Since then the car has come on quite alot had some ups and downs but we are finally nearly there especially now as we have took the engine out for a freshen up which was well overdue and it was scary how many bodges we fount including re used head bolts, bolt holes absolutely full of dirt etc.
The best part about this build is me and my good mate karl are carrying it out in my heated conservatory (the wife loves it ) haha.
rebuild has consisted of the following
bores honed & new piston rings crank polished cylinder head has been skimmed, new exhaust valve guides x4, decarbonised, hot washed valves cleaned relapped etc etc new cylinder head gasket kit, new engine gasket kit, new cylinder head bolts new cambelt kit inc water pump new high pressure oil pump, cosworth oil pressure switch newman cvh turbo cam kit with solid lifters mahle crankshaft bearings vernier cam pulley and billet crank pulley ARP rod bolts
The spec of the engine is nothing out of the ordinary, iv had a t2 hybrid turbo built by my mate wilky at bernies blowers which consists of 360 bearing, escort cosworth t28 comp wheel, nissan t28 turbine both machined into oe housings. Also has a mongoose system on therealong with airtec stage 2 radiator and stage 1 fmic, we also fitted uprated fan and fuel pump looms from msd.
Once the engine is ran in and we change the oil again ill be getting it booked in with pj motorsport to be remappped on beige injectors and i also have an uprated actuator here for the proposed increase to 16-18psi boost.
we are taking this opportunity to fit an uprated helix clutch plus aem afr gauge, stack boost and oil pressure gauges just so we can keep an eye on the important things ill also not be butcchering any of the dash etc to fit these as i already have an oe centre heater vents fitting thats been modified to take 2 52mm gauges
anyway enough waffle heres a few pics of the car.
i did a grand total of 46 miles in the car last year and that will certainly change this year once we get the engine back in the car. i have loads of pics of the engine build i could upload if anyone if interested in seeing them.

Absolutely superb. Loving the conservatory refurb action too!
Coveted these when I was learning to drive (passed my test in 91,then got to use..... My mums montego estate before buying myself a nova 1.3sr, insurance being the killer for me at the time).
Love it and the sympathetic work you've been doing to it.

Nice! Bet that’s great fun. The Newman cam kit is a great bit of kit isn’t it.
What’s different about the cosworth oil pressure switch?

I'm hoping to find out this year as it only did 46 miles last year and probably less the year i bought it which was mostly due to me breaking my ankle in the august that year. Newman make the best cams for a cvh turbo really good although setting up the solid lifters is such a fiddly time consuming job

Looks a nice motor, i love the newman cam i put in the mrs erst, i did laugh though as i the cam in it when I rebuilt the engine in our unused front room when it was in I took the car for m.o.t and the moron who performed the test told me that theres no way the engine had been rebuilt as the lifters were borked because of the light tap sound you get with solids, I laughed and told him that it had solid lifters, he then argued with me that theres no solid lifter option for the cvh, I said well even ford did them for the rs1600i laughed and pulled the oil cap off shone a light down and told him to peer down at the rockers where you could clearly see the top of the lifter, safe to say he was a little red faced

There will be things you have done in your restoration that will give us tips and ideas. There is just as much skill in restoration as there is in modifying and both arts can assist the other in ways to do things and not do things! Great save there, I never liked them but, now, their rarity makes them very desirable and your car is an absolute peach that I would be more than happy to own. Well done!

Peco backbox ftw. Used to love going into local car shops & looking at Peco & Ashley exhausts, Richbrook alloy tax disk holders & massive subs. Ah the early 90's. Very cool car too I had one back in the day & the fuel filler neck & outer panel rotted through.

Looks like a stainless exhaust so could be a period item such a scorpian or magnex.
I quite like it , it suits how they were back in the day and i think the tailpipe sits nice in relation to the bumper and back of the car .

Well done! great stuff ill copy and paste a few things over my my thread over on another forum. appreciate the kind words iv always liked them even more so when my older brother owned a black one in 2000 Absolutely love a subtle modified car , such a refreshing change to see something done modestly and in better condition than most . I will be following this for sure ! thanks alot mate thats the sort of theme I'm following oe+, its in much better shape now than when i got it thats for sure, it had been unloved for a good 3-4 years before i think. Exactly what he said^^^^^ Nice work fella thanks alot Very nice. I like that model Fiesta,we had one about 20 years ago. Can't believe that this model is already this old. They have aged very well thanks fella, i know its crazy how quick time seems to fly by Looks well. I can't help recognising the reg but cannot think where from. May have been owned by a guy local to me for years up until around 10 years ago. where abouts are you from mate? iv got a whole heap of paperwork with the car so i could defo have a look I've always wanted one of those They were new when I worked for ford so occasionally got to drive them I've had loads of mk3 and 3.5 fiestas but never a turbo i very nearly bought one back in 2009 but it turned out to be a real dog, so the next day i turned up at home with a renault 5 gt turbo still miss that car just over 230bhp was a little flying machine. Very nice, wanted one of these for a while but missed the boat sadly. Looking forward to seeing more pics thanks mate, i think i just got mine at the right time as prices have near enough doubled in 2 years. Looking very clean, but why the huge rear exhaust pipe? cheers pal, its a proper period mod, i think every rs turbo or cosworth had a 4" tailpipe back in the day and it was something i did when i got the car as it had an exhaust that just looked lost in the recess. Peco backbox ftw. Used to love going into local car shops & looking at Peco & Ashley exhausts, Richbrook alloy tax disk holders & massive subs. Ah the early 90's. Very cool car too I had one back in the day & the fuel filler neck & outer panel rotted through. haha 90s were a great time for car tuning imo, real big business. Ah yes the good old panel of death seems to have claimed quite a few victims down the years. Looks like a stainless exhaust so could be a period item such a scorpian or magnex. I quite like it , it suits how they were back in the day and i think the tailpipe sits nice in relation to the bumper and back of the car . Haha you have answered the fella just up from you for me, thats the exact reason i did it the one is question here is a mongoose tailpipe section onto a scorpion system, i did really well on the mongoose as they are no longer made for the fiesta, and this one looked like it had hardly been used on a car.

copying and pasting over from another forum 27-12-2017 Well it looks like we might of got to the bottom of the reason for my car smoking like bob marley. Done a compression test today got 100psi on 1-3 and 110 on 4. Got the head etc whipped off for a closer inspection. First spot is looks like old head bolts were used at some point as a couple are stretched and looks like the bolt holes were not cleaned out so the ends were properly shitted up and certainly not torqued up correctly. All pistons are now removed looks to be signs of wear on the crank bearings and some marks on the side walls of the pistons, bores look to be pretty smooth with very light honing marks showing. head will be fully refreshed/skimmed and pressure tested, obviously all new gaskets/bolts/belts plus high pressure oil pump will be fitted. bottom end will of course be checked over and go from there but new gaskets/seals and arp con rod bolts are a certainty along with crank polished and new main/big ends and thrusts fitted. we will see if the cylinders need honing/reboring and if my current pistons are ok to use and just get away with a set of rings or new pistons etc. on new years eve i had a spare hour or so i stripped all bits off the head ready to be taken to the engine shop for required work. i also took a couple of quick pics of the pistons etc and will get much more as we go on The bottom end is being dropped off at the engine shop on sat 20th jan to be inspected and then we shall go from there with whats required etc.

09-01-2018 today i got a job finished for midday so i got home and decided strip the remaining bits off the head and took it upto my local engine shop so he can strip and inspect and tell me whats going be needed. i also thought id get a quick pic of how the car is looking in the garage atm, pretty bare and even more so after saturday when the bottom end is removed 13-01-08 today me and karl removed the bottom end from the car ready to take to the engine shop next saturday please note we cleaned one piston up to see if there was any info etc on it, as you can see quite alot of carbon build up. we are really hopeful that it only needs re honing, new rings and new big ends
