I came across RR back in April 2016 whilst waiting in hospital for my twin boys to be born. It was a online search of barn finds that linked me to 'the abandoned one' thread. As a child dad always had ' abandoned ' cars ( Mk1 escorts, E24 628csi) on the drive and I was familiar with the interest they gathered and the people who wanted to buy them. Over the next few weeks I read every post and hoped to see dad's driveway in the thread. Then I moved on to explore the rest of the forum and loved what I saw. I currently have a project Nova 20Xe but no time and waiting on a house sale to have some work space to reignite the passion and get a build thread going. How about everyone else?

I joined about ten years ago. I honestly can't remember what originally brought me here but it's somewhere I've always been drawn to for the vast array of cars that can be found here

I joined in 2006 because it seemed like a good idea. Someone at work pointed me in this direction because I had an Austin Maxi and a MG Maestro at the time. I don't have anything retro now ( I probably own the rarest car ive ever owned now, but its not retro). I still come here for the old, interesting and/or odd.

I think it was when Retro Cars magazine was relaunched and I was looking for their site and mistook this forum for it. I've been hooked ever since. And not just for the content, but for the community & the fact that there isn't any haters aloud on here.

How did I join? I entered the relevant information in the form fields of the sign up page. Badum-Tsh. Why? I was told about it by a friend who also enjoyed driving cars of the nature appreciated by this sites clientele. I had a VW Transporter, a Rover Mini and a VW Passat B2 at the time, probably also a polo 2F so it seemed a good place to be.

Lurked for a long time, joined up properly when I bought my Dolly Sprint as I felt 'worthy' at that point!
Joined for the variety and friendly vibe, and because I immensely enjoyed the Gathering.

Just looked at my profile and didn't realise I joined 10 years ago, I joined as I'd seen a link on classic Audi forum for a Audi 80 sport for sale, I didn't buy it but I liked the forum.

It was 12 years ago. I think someone on Minifinity pointed me here but I can't really remember.
I still think of this as a haven away from brexit, syria, austerity and so on. I can come on here and just flick through picture threads quite happily.
I don't own a retro car but I have no plans to stop looking.

TBH I'm not 100% sure how I found the forum originally - I think I drifted over from Locostbuilders as a interested lurker before finally starting to post some things.
Why? Nothing modern, and very few things in the kit car scene give me those "phwoar" moments when you see a car that just looks RIGHT. Couple that with a friendly and knowledgeable community and you've got a winner.

I think there was a blurb about it in Retro Car or PVW, ten years maybe?

I originally found a link to the abandoned thread on another forum (Maybe VW Vortex or something) and lurked for many years. I only then signed up in 2013 because I felt the need to post. I had a MK3 Golf at the time.
