And not with a boot lid like this one either! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152999913943?Not worth more than £5k imho... Has anyone owned one of these, and what did they reckon to it? I nearly bought one but bailed out as it looked too ragged for me.

Looks like a £350 jalopy to me, unless someone can explain certain motorsport heritage that it's hiding?

I'd pay £350 for that any day of the week and twice on a Sunday!
It is what it is mate, maybe a bit of a marmite-mobile but there's plenty of those on RR.

Good car and getting thin on the ground but this vendor does appear to be somewhat optimistic in terms of value.

I Wouldn't look twice at that one. Maybe an immaculate one for around 4000 GBP

It’s the only one for sale at this moment on any of the popular sites.
VERY ropey ones can fetch around £5000, so given its provenance it’s got potential, but for 5 figures I’d want it to be perfect.

I bought one in 2003 for £30...
I sold it for £100...
Tbf it needed ns sill and boot sorting but overall it was a solid tidy car.
How times change eh.

It's nice that it looks like its survived standard and unmolested but he's asking 205GTi money for this!
Still things are only worth what people will pay for them. If someone really REALLY wants one...

I best not show this to my cousin, he'd have a fit. He sold one for banger money about 5 years ago. I should be kicking myself as I could have had it but I had no idea! I'm not sure that ones worth 13k, but if the values are rising well its probably worth more than id think it was.

Am I missing something here? I know most cars have some sort of following especially Japanese stuff, but they're a lukewarm hatch at best, and fairly ugly with it.
If Japanese Hot hatches are your thing, You could buy a pulsar gtir, Galanza turbo, swift gti etc. For around half that asking price. Or if you like retro Toyotas, again, about half that money or a couple grand more and you you can still pick up an ok ae86.
Has the seller been on the crackpipe or is there something I don't know?

Theres a dark blue one near me I've been looking at but it really looks rank in blue! I think they look good in white, less so in red or black, but blue, naaah!

It seems many don't get supply and demand on here.
Sure the demand is higher for a 205. But there are plenty of people who will want an AE92, and are aware of how few are now left; it made it to MSN's top 100 most common disappearing cars!
That is why they go for what they are. More people want a 205 GTI but I bet less AE92s are left. My dad sold a Metro Turbo back in 1997 for £125 with a blown box. I doubt you'd even get many spares for the car at that price now given how many gave their lives for Mini Turbo conversions as well as rust killing off the rest of the herd.
There are only 5 roadworthy Hyundai Stellars left. But I bet bar a certain Stellar on here not many would give a penny over £50 for one now.
I do love threads like this at times.
