So, halfway across the country there's this guy- Tony. Tony has several old cars & trucks, some nice and some not so nice. He paid someone to do a body swap on his 1951 Jeep pickup, It's a WILLYS jeep which I guess makes it cooler. I like it either way. The paid guy, took the jeep body and stuck it down on this 1999 Chevy Tahoe frame. No fab, no bolts, no brackets, zero layout. Didn't even have a plan on how it would get finished, I suspect. Tony paid thousands of dollars and this is all he got. After three years! It took 3yrs to get this far! After enough was enough- he went and got his jeep, brought it home. Tony has plenty of stuff to play with, he and his son do actually work on stuff, from what I've gathered. While working on something and watching You Tube, they stumble across my videos, and the rest is history! He contacted me and we talked about this thing and before you know it- it's with me, ready for the Hemi Durango chassis swap! It looks tight, like it will barely fit under the bonnet. I might have to move the brake booster. But hey- if I can stand the steering column basically straight UP, in the 1961 Metro Van and make that thing drive, I know I can make this one work. It's going to be SWEEEET... I'll do a thread on it when I start taking it apart. And that will be soon.

The coyote truck! Yeah- the engine... We fired it up, to move it out of the garage under it's own power. Everything was done except for lights and gauges. The engine stalled. Long story short? The engine washed the cylinders of oil! It over fuelled. Who knows why, but when we pulled it, and drained the oil- it was Seized!! Fuel and something else in the oil... WATER! No idea. We're waiting to see if the used engine depot we bought it from, will warranty it. It seems like they will- it's a big place, they should warranty this engine, we know it did have some crash damage, but it should NOT have locked up. A known (or supposedly known good) Coyote engine had locked up tighter than a bull's behind in Fly time.

Finally! Something has happened with this build! The engine we put in the thing- was bad. The engine was shipped back and 2 months later we got another one. That was not fun, nor was it fast. My buddy and I stuck the trans on to the engine and put it back into the truck. Finally. We began to re connect everything and wire all of the gauges. If all goes well today, we will start this replacement engine. I feel like this truck should have been gone already. The guy that owns the truck is fine with the time line-- but I'd much rather have the space for some new junk that has arrived. I'll just leave this picture here.

We fired it up! It's great. No pics- I was too busy today. More as it develops.

On this truck,I purchased the manual crimper tool for Aircon lines. It is fairly cheap and works a treat. There is a 3" dash extension that will house the vents and the controls for the heat/cool.

'80 s1 924 turbo..hibernating '80 golf gli cabriolet...doing impression of a skip '97 pug 106 commuter...continuing cheapness making me smile!
firm believer in the k.i.s.s and f.i.s.h principles.

I like the gloss, it brings all the colours and shades on the truck to life unlike the inside of the bed which is still dull at the moment. Nice contrast with the cast wheels as well, great build and an awesome truck.

At first, the clear makes it look like it's been painted metallic brown, which does suit the truck, so it's neat that as you get closer, more details from the rust appear. I'm not sure if I like the clearcoat or not on this particular truck, but that's probably what makes it interesting. Overall, the whole package is really neat, and a little bit unexpected, and I imagine in everyday driving it's a proper giggle since in traffic it probably looks more like 'just an old truck' than it really is so has an opportunity to surprise people.
