Rejuvenate Faded Black Plasticpeteh1969

Can anyone recommend a product or method to rejuvenate black 10 year old plastic that has faded to grey, ideally something I only have to use every 6 months.
I don't want to have to use paint unless I absolutely have to.
Any Info much appreciated.

I have seen results with the following methods:
Silicone spray (not WD40 but a pure silicone release spray)or a heat gun, sometimes application of heat will bring back the black
There are a myriad of back to black type products but I haven't had great results with the ones I used. Sure someone will be able to recommend one to you.

On exterior plastics I use boiled linseed oil, available from most DIY shops. Works brilliantly and lasts too.

The transit connect boys have been using cherry blossom shoe polish for the pound shop. They reckon if you give it 2 or 3 coats and it doesnt see rain for a couple of days it lasts upto and over 12 months by some reports. I'm going to give it a go on my father in laws connect next week while he's on holiday

After many years of trying to make plastic black I recently tried linseed oil. Has a really old glass bottle of it in the garage and have tried it on various cars and it works as well as the better back to black type sprays but last longer.
My Transit has some paint scuff marks on the bumper only easily removed with thinners leaving a nice white patch and a bit of linseed oil covers they up completely.
Try not to get it on paint though as once it dries a bit it's difficult to get off. I paint it on and wipe off the worst with an old black t shirt so you don't get loads of bits that show stuck to it.

If you want a permanent solution, I used a product called Forever Black on an old Mitsubishi trim. It is a dye though so you need to mask off the paint and wipe off any overspill. About £15 a bottle but very effective.
Detailing World forum will have lots of suggestions too.

gentle waft with a hot air gun gave this result , never linger on one spot and keep a close eye on it. its lasted 12 months so far with just a couple of smears of autoglym bumper care.  |

Heat gun followed by Gtechniq C4 and it should last a few years.

As above Gtechniq C4, second to none.
Not cheap mind, costs £34 (last time I bought some) but a little goes a long way.
Most other remedies simply "gloss" or "paint" the surface of the plastic- this literally rejuvenates it back to original black and lasts ages.
