Photos from Enfield Pageant of Motoring 26th May 2018

Nearly a week late but, a few pics from Enfield Pageant this year.

It was my first time and i can honestly say i loved every minute of it. Maybe its just the shows i've been to when living up north but, the auto jumble was great!! although the only car thing i bought  was an 80s car aerial, i got a great deal on two old film cameras and a pair of Ray Bans  

I loved the American cars (part of the reason for going) but it was the section at the end of the field that got my attention the most....

The weird and wonderful section first.







I fell in love with this Polonez . I know they get a bad rep but i wonder how much worse they can be than my Escort mk3 !! 








The front wing on this Polo was exceptional!



Again hats off to the Polonez 



A very interesting USA spec Cortina... would love to know more about this.













Hard to believe this has such a tiny V4 under all that bonnet ! 



















The Escort section. Didnt get to speak to the owner of this... wasnt really sure if it was for sale or a daily. Would have loved the cassette deck for mine though! 



This is mine. Gutted it wasnt in the show ! Although it inspired me to enter it into "festival of the unexceptional" this year. I doubt it will win but it'll be nice taking part for once.

Yeah it was a real beauty . The Crayford section was great. There was a nice Red Cortina mk5 too.

The gold mk3 was for sale. Fella wants 900 for it. Needs a battery tray and a couple of arches but the floors spot on. Been off the road since '99 though. My mate was tempted by it. Will need alot of recommisioning having been sat so long

I used to live round the corner from this show and as a kid I'd go every year but in the latter years I felt it was dropping off a bit

1) The auto jumble was becoming more like a car boot sale made up of mainly house hold tat
2) one of the big draws for me as a kid was the steam and heavy military vehicles but the numbers dropped off
Possibly due to the "London low emissions zone" that this show falls just inside of

I've not been for maybe 8 years now
but from these photos and some others I've seen it looks like it may be worth a re-visit next year

Used to play rugby on them there fields. Remember the first show they did there as well as we lived next to the playing fields it was a short walk from our house, think I was an impressionable teenager. Which as that was 40 years ago shows how old i am........

I love the idea of strolling past the autojumble and just spur of the moment thinking "Y'know what, I'm gonna buy that canopy from a Wellington*. It's just what I need to grow my cucumbers in."

....and then thinking half an hour later "Dang, how am I gonna fit that in the boot of my Fiat 500"

It's more likely that every year you walk past looking at the same piles of wibblepoo. All of them far worse than stuff you threw away years ago. And these dreamers carry it about in the hope that some sucker will buy it. Ebay has pretty much killed autojumbles.

I've been saying for the last four or five years that I won't bother going to Enfield or Bromley again, but each year I convince myself it's worth going. I went to Enfield this year, but I'm ringing a quarter peal on 17th June so can't go to Bromley even if I wanted to
