Correct - called in after getting it (still can't quite call the car her, yet) washed over the road, and needed some interior disinfectant wipes as it does smell a little 'doggy'. You really don't want to see the amount of crud i wiped off just the steering wheel.... I work over in Eastwood, so Asda was nearest (and Morrisons didn't have any wipes..!)

That kind of summarises it for me too mgmrw. The 323i had all of the ingredients on paper to be great. But in all honesty it didn't feel great on the limit either. I preferred my Pug 306 Diesel and dare I say it, my 250D; that actually held the road and felt predictable. When I sold the 323i for my Clio 172 I had no regrets which some here will find strange. I still sort of don't TBH! In many ways, albeit my collection not being the most thrilling, this probably one of the few times I own 'the full package' in terms of attainable cars. I have a quirky car, a quick and very capable car in addition to a bit of a bruiser of a daily; their is a strange similarity between the S124 and the M3 but thankfully the drive is different enough; The Merc is the nicest car of the lot in town and just about pips it for everyday driving. The last time I had something like this was when I had an 05' Mondeo 3.0 Ghia X 6 speed estate, Triumph Stag, my 944 Turbo and a part share in a 205 GTi. I got rid of the BMW and had £400 of Alfa 146. It was knackered, and hilarious in any amount of abuse. I've kept my Saab tid vector sport 9-3 for 8 years and 100,000+ miles. This year I've dumped over a grand into maintaining a 152,000 mile 12 year old saloon worth about £300. Why? Because the only two things it's bad at are; round town on curse word roads and IKEA trips. Everything else it's great Ok it's no track car, at 10/10 it gets a bit underpowered and overgripped. But everywhere else it's superb. Recently did Bodmin to Doncaster in 4hours40, with a stop, and got 52mpg. Mrs hates it. God help me if she ever sees the bills I foot to keep it going and in A1 condition mechanically.

I wouldn't beat yourself up too much mgmrwThat's still £100 a month, and I'm guessing a garage has done the work. It's cheaper than leasing a Pug 107 and alot nicer! You won't want to see my M3 bills. I've done most of the work myself and it's still scary what's gone into it. PS, that looks lovely @maxxer! I'd want some BMW Style 32 rims on that mind you .

Rest assured ChasR the wheels will be going next year; first things first are to enjoy it for the next month (hopefully while the sun still shines) then get it MOT'd (it runs out in October, but the last MOT had barely any advisories, and its only covered 2000ish miles since; hopefully nothing too serious will crop up) then service it and work on it at leisure (in between being a Dad; getting quite used to it now but amazing how much time it takes up..!!). There's a few bits need doing; Heater motor resistor, de-amber the side indicators and headlights, swap out the rear lights for Z3M jobbies - all simple stuff, but all takes time. Then there's wheels, lowering, induction, exhaust.......next year at the earliest i think

(2.8's seem to carry a premium over the 1.9/20/2.2 versions, though I'm not sure why? Yes it drives well but not £1.5-2k nicer...!). Wider, faster, rarer, more desirable. More collectable. A specced up 2.8 will be the big ticket one short of a Z3M in a couple more years.

When you start the project make sure to check the sills behind the side covers. Seen a few folk with unknown rust issues. Better to get in there early 👍
Nice car btw. Always hung my nose over these but ended up buying the Z4 3.0Si manual (which I adore and use as my daily drive all year)

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault
