I witnessed this beast in the Dover B&Q car-park last Sunday - (note disabled spot despite driver not being disabled) It's a real humdinger. I've seen some, and then I saw this. My brother said 'beyond parody' when he saw the shot. If it was in japan this 'style' would probably have a really cool name and a cult following; So much work—obviously a loved, coveted vehicle, yet lamentably so rubbish in its execution. I find it a fascinating trend (I see a lot like this in Kent) and would genuinely love to know more on the owners' motivations when carrying out this level of stick-on-chrome modding. What is the end goal? Where do they get the parts? [is there a special parts catalogue you can send off for in the back of 'Caravanning monthly'?) Do like minded owners get together and have shows? It feels we're missing a proper name for it - "Halfords-bolt-on-goody-special" doesn't really roll off the tongue. Got any suggestions or fantastic examples of the genre - post below:

It feels we're missing a proper name for it - "Halfords-bolt-on-goody-special" doesn't really roll off the tongue. Sounds good enough to me. In Germany we call something like that Baumarkt-Tuning. Baumarkt is the gerneral term for stores like Halfords, B&Q etc., where you buy tools, wood, pipes, sinks - and car parts like above. Often applied to PT cruisers.

I spotted a juke in similar fashion in a disabled spot in Stoke festival park McDonald’s probably about a year ago. I didn’t check for disabled badge.
I think it’s a way of tracking former pt cruiser owners.

To me, and to many a Barryboy wagon, that would be a 'Crashed through Halfords'; suggesting they attached everything in sight without so much as a consideration as to if they should have...

jonk I really liked the SPORTage badge too. Nice use of the Porsche 'Turbo' badge underneath too. Here's another shot - sparing his identity as I'm not really about shaming him per se - but he looked a lot like Curtwood Smith from the original Robocop

It's 'GAG' - short for 'glue & glitter' roll up at the automotive tat accessory store of your choice - mask up the windows - apply aerosol spray adhesive liberally to the vehicles outer & inner surfaces has required - drive slowly down the dual sided trinket isles - rattle the display stands with your bumpers whilst driving forwards for a random selection of worthless tat to fall on the glued areas - once completed - empty your bank balance at the checkout till upon leaving the store - and talking of worthless - so now is your Sportage which 15 minutes ago just happened to be worth £10k

Instantly P!$$€D OFF
I have no sympathy for the Gym membership, built like a brick outhouse but behaving like the contents of it, using either granny’s badge or no badge in any Disabled or preferential spaces, often in large 4x4’s with personal plates that mean very little except for highlighting them. I can see how Joy battles when she has to walk 500 meters or more because we are in my car, and not in hers with badge, that diffuser took a space from a person who may just suffer like hell when not given that preference.
They should be shamed and seriously pursued, like driving in a bus lane, or various similar transgressions.
I have no time for these people.
Regarding the R on the rear badge....... Rejected, Ret@rded Rubbish or any other thing starting with R like Dickhead.

I saw a Ford ka convertable thing plastered in chrome tatt last week, wish id had time to take a picture. In comparison it makes that Kia look really really nice. Ive got a great name for this genre of customising but i'll probably end up with a picture of that silly fox.

so much money and time wasted to end up with that! a lot of the current crop of motors actually weren't bad looking designs 'till all the little chrome accents crept in , the big Peugeot suv thing springs to mind as an example. best of it is that the sportage could actually be made very tasty with a little de-clutter from the factory look. as for a name .... tat-look??

I wouldn't have pixelated his face. Of course, he may well be disabled, hard to tell from the picture, but having a tiny pen15 can be quite a disability! As for what you'd all that kind of customising, I've no idea, but Tat-look works for me! It does seem to have spread from the PT Cruiser brigade.

Of course, I don't look disabled when I drive my folks anywhere either, but they've both got blue badges and if I need to park in a disabled spot I put the badge up.
