I have been a member on here for around 10 years or so. I originally joined up because a chap told me it was a good place to advertise my Mk1 Golf Cabriolet. Nobody took any interest in the Golf (back then Cabrios were cheap) but I definitely found a place that I could call internet home! I drifted away from the VWs and I like to say it's thanks to this site that I have owned various other cars. So yeah thanks to all those who keep it going and to all those who have much more interesting builds than mine!

Thirded that... 😉
I certainly do call this my home forum too.
The variety, friendships, knowledge and caring I get from here certainly humbles me.
Thank you all who touch my life.

I've been on the site for 5 years, but lurked for way longer. I love this site too and find the builds and threads very interesting. Props also to being one of the few forums to actually still be active in 2018! So many died out with the rise of social media.

Yup. When i first joined this forum there were other forums that covered my interest in classic cars, but thats where it stopped. They didnt cover my interest in general old stuff, and slighly newer cars, and all round interesting stuff, and basicly anything related to motoring in some way as well as stuff that isnt, but just sort of fits somewhere on this forum where someone else may possibly take an interest. Whatever it is, it works because RR is still here.

It’s a really good, diverse site. Not to many knobheads and keyboard warriors, and loads of cool stuff, no matter your interest. I think one reason it survives is it isn’t ruthlessly over moderated, and generally people know how to behave 👍🏻

Same. Only forum I bother with now, and I have a long and broad forum history. I love this place.

Agree with the above. Though only been here 3 years myself, it's a top thing. Cheers RR.

Agreed - signed up back in 2008 thanks to LowStandards as he suggested it was a cool place to be. 4 years later I've bought an MG Midget, now sold and replaced with a Z3. 4 visits to RRG later and hopefully I'll make it back next year in a Retro wagon. I do find myself on here most days due to the variety; single make forums are getting seriously dull now (mind you, ZRoadster.org is kinda useful ) and I avoid Pistonheads like the plague - far too much backstabbing on there for me to waste my time on it. And the mantra of 'if you can't say anything positive, say nothing' is a great idea. Cannot be doing with having to plough through negativity on a forum....

Agreed I've been here nearly 12 years, and it's probably at least partly the fault of RR that I have a diverse selection of cars in terms of age and country built

But......but... there's no boobs on here Geez, tough crowd. As above, this is pretty much the only forum I can be fox-pictured with any more. All the others wither and die, but this place actually gets more cool and stronger as time goes by. It's lovely, like putting on an old pair of socks

I think had I posted this thread up on many forums that I have been a member of then I would have had the Mick ripped out of me for saying thank you! It's great that so many people still come here and contribute to the forum. I come on only on my phone and don't know how to post photos otherwise I would have posted thankyou cool cars!

I think one reason it survives is it isn’t ruthlessly over moderated, and generally people know how to behave 👍🏻 This is spot on! Too many forums and Facebook groups are full of people slating cars and bitching over politics. I was a member of a Land Rover based Facebook group for a while, but I left after it turned into a Brexit battle ground. I say more places should learn from here and leave politics at the door and respect people for who they are and what they appreciate. Well done Retro Rides for being a positive site in an increasingly negative online world.

Mind you, now you mention it... the thing that really gets me about Brexit is, right... how come if we're all supposed to follo *explodes*

I can only echo what everybody is saying at the beginning of the Internet when we still had dial up I joined many forums I'm not sure how long I've been a member of this one but it's probably only 3 years and it's now the only forum I'm on As of last week when the only other one I was on (BMW related) closed its doors to focus on its Facebook page But the way in which Facebook works means build threads are pointless and questions are often missed And there's a good chance il miss any up coming events due to the way I use Facebook
As long as this place is here il be staying I like the diversity of the builds and the people the frequent this forum

I've been a member here for getting on for 14 years. I've been absent for a while, life getting in the way and stuff, but I've been posting more again recently. Like someone up there /\/\ I post on my phone and as I'm a luddite I also don't know how to post pics. I like it here, for many reasons. The craic, the cars and the people.
