Recently bought as a sort of impulse buy and potential project but I've realised that I don't actually have anywhere to keep it... eBay is dangerous.
It's actually pretty straight for a 21 year old Ford but it's not without some issues which I will detail as best I can first.
Now the main issue is a suspected duff alternator. The battery light is on and the previous owner did say that it was busted, however I have not tested it.
The driver's seat has collapsed and is in need of replacement. You can get whole leather ST200 interiors for about £100.
Passenger rear arch does need some attention. I was going to skim over it with some filler and paint it, but I would rather leave this so prospective buyers can check it out and be sure I'm not trying to hide anything.
The driver's side does have some pretty decent lacquer peel (see pics), I suspect that this would require a respray from the driver's door back so maybe £250 or so?
Now that's out the way, here comes the good bits!
Firstly it does run, drive and stop! The engine is buttery smooth and fires up on the button (when it has fuel in it and the battery is charged, which it wasn't when I first got it).
It's the original ST and is becoming increasingly rare (when was the last time you saw one on the road!?), about 176bhp from factory and does pick up quite well despite it's age and weight!
It has electric EVERYTHING! All windows, mirrors, even driver's seat! It has A/C (which probably needs a re-gas), it has steering wheel controls for the radio which is a genuine original tape deck!
The MOT history is really good and I have a folder full of history. I don't think it's a full history but it's certainly more comprehensive than many I've owned, it also includes all three keys, even the red service key!
The overall condition is pretty good considering it had been sat for a while.
I've always been pretty good with predicting what cars are going to start appreciating in value, and I think this is gonna be one of them in the not too distant future. If I had the space, I'd get it MOT'd, sort out the lacquer and seat and probably just sit on it for a few years but sadly my other main project takes priority.
Essentially, I shouldn't have bought this but I had dreams of my younger self pretending to be a Touring Car driver... now you can do that instead!
I'm after £500 which I think it's fair, I can't find any others for sale so it's tricky to value. I am however open to offers and urge you to come and view it! It will obviously need recovering due to no MOT and I'm not sure how far a fully charged battery would get you anyways (the battery in the pic was just a spare I had kicking around to get it running, the one it will come with is massive and looks to be pretty new!
Anyways, here's some pictures!
