I think I might know that car.
If is the car I'm thinking of, it used to belong to one of the very early Dutch Fiat 500 Club members.
Sold it to a family in Barneveld and 3 years later it was on marktplaats again. Lost track of it. But it is still taxed and MOT'd

The rarest car I've ever owned is any one that I've tried to get parts for, as in 'Nah, we don't keep bits for them anymore'.
Retro wise, my old Dolly Sprint had the lowest production run of any car I've ever owned but I wouldn't consider it rare.
Modern daily? My Merc C Class Estate . . . why? . . . because it's petrol and it's manual and took a lot of finding.

My 1985 Audi 80 b2 quattro 2.2 One of 400 imported. I got it form a friend who worked at GTI Engineering, and it had a stage 2 head and matched cam, circa 155 bhp. Unfortunately, my then girlfriend went joy riding in it and smashed it up.

I think the 5 door Astra GTE had too much bodyflex so they dropped it and only did 3 door models, they still had bulkhead problems even with the 3 door version 5 door was only made for a year (just about making into the first month of D reg) and it was phased for the same reason as the 3 door 1.8 gte. they invented the 2 litre gte ! 1.8 gte model in 3 and 5 door was superseded with the sri. i don't know why we (uk) didnt get 5 door 2.0 and 2.0 16v models, they did in europe. i expect it was due to the tooling not existing at ellesmere port for the new floor pan. (same reason all of the 16v models were imported from bochum)

So my Ax is now pretty rare. The GTi was always rare than the GT but there are only 10 left on the road and mine is one of 61 SORN (according to howmanyleft.couk) My GT' are part of the 207 SORN with only 34 on the road. However the black one is a 5 door mk1 model, and when you take that into account it's probably one of maybe 25 left. The white GT is a mk1 but 3dr so really quite common in comparison

I gues my CROWNs aren't that common anymore and never have been all over the place (ofcoarse no crazy numbers like 1 out of 300 or so) Citroen HY isn't that common but not to be called rare neither And my datsun could be called rare aswell I think... others that are sold like a barkas b1000 maybe...

Unfortunately, my then girlfriend went joy riding in it and smashed it up. I had one as well , someone fitted a KK series GTI engineering 5 pot in it and built it for road rallies , full cage , plumbed in fire extinquishers . Audi 90 discs etc etc , went like a scalded cat , i sold it as getting it through the emission test was problematic due to the rediculous cam it had fitted , C969 FYC where are you now

Had an Opel Kadett B Rallye Coupe in the early 70's Had the 1078 engine, twin Solex PDSI carbs and 59 BHP. Yellow with black bonnet panels and twin black side stripes. Was very rare when I had it so must be extremely rare now. Traded it for an Opel Ascona A 1.9SR which I would think is also rare.

My two pence worth (some would say literally). There were only 180 built (allegedly) and I can account for one being a burn out due to local scroat with fireworks. These others are in my care at the moment. Dutton Legerra #1 Dutton Legerra #2 Dutton Legerra #3 Dutton Legerra #4 Dutton Legerra #5 Sadly #5 is now four inches shorter on the passenger side thanks to the tyre wall at Castle Coombe (there is a video on you tube) - I was not driving nor did I own it at the time. It will need most of #3 to make it right again. #4 had been butchered when I finally took possession of it and is now a parts car for all the others. If the numbers are correct then I can account for just over 3% of the total number ever made...

Thought quite long before posting this up because... well... you know. Anyway. 2003 Porsche 996.2 GT3RS. The first customer car in the UK and originally one of 99 UK supplied cars - think they ended up importing 113 at the end. Absolutely loved this car, collected it from the factory did the usual suspension mods and tracked it mercilessly all over the UK and Europe. Many, many tales with this car, including being used by Top Gear, reaching a verified 202mph, a Le Mans trip that meant I could never go again and my introduction to the Carreras Cup. Had lots and lots of Porsche’s including a 1 of 8 993 Turbo S, 73,RS light weight an absolutely horrible driving 964 RS in Fuchsia blah blah blah curse word picture as my PC decided that it didn’t like its hard drive anymore, taken at Bedford on one of the evening events we ran there. Managed to wee myself right off now! P.
