1987 Jaguar XJ-S 5.3 V12 HE Auto
Picked this up recently, always wanted one ever since I had a corgi model as a kid
Brought it home and have been told I'm defiantly not allowed a 3rd 'toy' car, it's too long for the garage and needs more tlc to make it nice than I can really afford to give it.
But that doesn't mean I'm not going to have lots of fun cruising about in it for a little while, it's like taxing a freaking aeroplane, takes off too!
Currently mot'd until Jan 2020, 70k miles which appear to be genuine.
Solid bodywork even in the places I've been told to check. The floors and sills have been welded and patched where needed, brakes look to be recently overhauled and it runs very well.
The auto box works as it should, as do all the gauges etc.
It needs tidying generally everywhere and is pretty tatty, someone has done a proper cowboy repair on the rear bumper trim although the rear valence and body under the bumper appears very good.
Front valance is solid but messy, missing the front lip trim.
It would make a great engine donor, same as the E type I think but these are injection. It starts and drinks fuel as it should, exhaust has a slight blow and there is a small oil drip up front hanging off some link pipes. Seems to run nice and cool, electric fan cuts in and out as it should.
Rear shocks need changing I've been told but they aren't too much. Tyres are all good.
I'll be dailying it the next few days, insurance was £120 for the year with it down as being stored on my driveway so not bad at all!
I'm thinking paint it raf camo, bolt on wide arches and have 6 straight pipes out each front wing! Or maybe someone can save it from my mad ideas and make it a nice one.
Offers welcome Nothing to say these wont go mad like the E type did though! The v12s are getting harder to find in working condition.
