Trying to track down a water leak in the Polo, think I've tracked it to the trunking where the driver's door meets the car. Is this a common area for leakage? And what's the repair? The only way I can think of to replace that trunking would be to take the door off?

Wouldnt it have to fill the door up 1st to get uphill in the trunking into the car? Check door drains and speaker area as a likely suspect, probably worth taking the door card off and see if the door seal sheet is cut about and the state of the door internals. If it has sunroof look for the drain tubes and also scuttle panel area.

Same for the sunroof - cleared them too although neither were blocked much. With the door shut fresh water is definitely coming in from around there. Granted I've never seen one of those trunking sections perish to the extent that they were letting in water...

My XJ40 has a similar connector, albeit in the inner wing, and that was a source of leaks. In my case a little corrosion around the edges of the aperture was enough to break the seal. I was able to put a little silicon around the outside to seal it until I can get to it properly.

Possibly running down the bonnet release cable?
Was a common leak on mk2 golfs
** now that i have been able to zoom in on the pics, was in work earlier, that loom boot looks pretty ropey. Wouldnt harm trying another one from a scrapper or trying to straighten that one out

Does it have a sun roof? I had an Octavia with a wet floor and a water leak in the same area, turns out it was a sunroof drain that had blocked up
