I have a Fiesta 1.4 Ghia 1990 and will be doing an oil change on it at some stage. It is SORN, and will only occasionally be started up and manoeuvred around a car park. I've checked various oil picker sites and they range from 5W-30 to 15W-40. Any recommendations for a grade and type for this occasional use? The cheapest I've found on Amazon is Mannol Defender 10W-40 which is under £13 for 4 litres. But Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 is currently £20 which seems a bargain as it's over £30 elsewhere. Thanks.

I would go for the Castrol at that price, 10-40 will be fine for this.
If you are starting and only driving it a short distance regularly it will still be a good idea to change it every year or so, cold starts without a good hot run put lots of fuel in the oil.

15w-40 might quieten the rattly hydraulic tappets a bit if its rattly.
I used to have one and a can of STP oil treatment used to work a treat for a couple thousand miles.

Thanks, have ordered the Magnatec. I read up on that STP stuff, some people say it clears the black sludge, others say it clears it too well and it either makes its way into the engine, or clears it away from areas that might be better with the sludge. Never know who to believe.

STP will not help the tappets or camshaft. A good CVH despite the wives tales should be quiet. If not, the tappets or camshaft are shot, normally, the former. They are a very easy tappet to change however.
5W40-15W50 will be fine. the 10W40 will work well.
