Hello guys need some help with the wiring of a head unit in my mk1 golf it has the earlier style fuse box, right, before I had a took at the wiring the previous owner made a bodgery of it so now I'm trying to sort it out, below is the layout of how it was connected
1. Both yellow and red wire were connected to the hazard wiring so it had a permanant live.
2. The black wire to the ground crowm CROWN - ( this was ok )
But the bodgery was having both the yellow and red wire to the hazard light wire which is permently live, so the G section of the fuse board there are few spare spade free to connect a ignition live so I put the ACC red wire to the ignition live and put the 12v constant power yellow wire to the ciggy lighter wiring this is a perment live and is fused the original 12v permanant live wire for the stereo usually comes of the ciggy wiring, the wiring harness for my new head unit the yellow permanant live wire has a inline 10amp fuse but then the ciggy lighter wiring is also fuse so firstly would it be wise to remove the inline fuse of the wiring harness as having two fuses on one line will be silly as it will have a bigger amp combined which will dangerous if anything was to short, secondly shal I add a inline fuse to the ignition live as this is not fused or would it be best to leave it out as the 12v permanent live is fused and having a fuse on both the ignition live and perment live will make it dangerous again if anything was to short at the unit side as it will have both the ignition fuse and the 12v fuse instead of just the fused 12v, hope I made sense lol if sounded ok in my head as I was typing all help is appreciated and if it don't make sense what I'm trying to say just ask and il try to explain it better lol thanks
