i have an e34 525tds touring with their huge double sunroof unfortunately its seized shut, motors work as i have unbolted them and they do move, anyone out there with E34 knowledge on how to proceed? preferably in a non-destructive manner!
the front rear and side headlining panels are all off (and knackered)
if i can get it apart I will get new cables, but untill them I'm stuck!

Can you get the roof panels to move manually? From memory I think there should be a hex slot in the motors to allow you to close/open the panels with a tool?
Been a little while since I've had mine, but with the rooflining out I think it was relatively straightforward to take the sunroof panels themselves out totally, which might make it easier to spot the issue

I have indeed had the whole thing out before, however that doesnt really give access to anything from memory.
no movement with the winder tool unfortunately.
everything I have found starts with 'open the sunroof'
it doesn't leak since having it all out previously, however given I do have all the trim bar the middle panels off I would like to try and fix it before putting them all back

I have figured that the rear mechanism does move, however without the front part opening that doesn't make any odds!

I got a bit scrapyardy/NFG on it last night and bent the tabs to get the inside panel off and I can now access the 6 nuts, still yet to figure how to open it or get lube into the cables!
