daimeter is about 23-1/4" i think. stock was about 25-3/4", so my RR is about 1-1/4" shorter.

I'm OK with the stretch. Ran a nice bit of stretch (mild, not excessive) on my 9in Borbets, no issues.
What I am averse to is low-pro's. Just get cheesed with feeling every bit of gravel on the road. Boring.

My opinion is that if you happen to have a blow out at motorway speeds in a car fitted with standard wheels and standard 70+ profile tyres like most classics, the car is going to drop a hell of a lot further than if you were running low profiles or with a bit of stretch on a wide rim, so why are we not deriding the manufactures for fitting such appallingly dangerous tyres in the first place? Of course there is the question of whether you are more likely to have a damage the tyre because of the stretch, but then you will also be liable to get tyre problems if you have poor allignment, sticking brakes, worn suspension, incorrect tyre pressures or just plain "OLD" rubber, not to mention the rubbish state of u.ks roads ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Likewise I've had questions about how safe using airbags is instead of coilsprings! The thing is I've engineered my set up so I can run without tyre/arch contact when the bags are empty, If I had the standard coils and one snapped (as they can) there is the potential for lots of problems. I remeber when a guy I worked with stopped at a roundabout in his completly standard sierra and Both! front coil springs snapped at the same time and wound themselves around the front struts, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I never would have belived it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) If you don't fancy a little risk in your life you really shouldn't be driving a car, statistically they are not very safe ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I don't see why people think they are dangerous when most drifters use them sideways at 100mph or so without problems. Surely if ones going to fail its going to be then? the only ones Ive ever seen come off the rim were that guy at the RR show.

My point was Ive never seen a drifters stretched tyre fail, therefore if they can handle that, why cant they handle an accident situation on the road?

just my views. i've never used them(never will) just they look dangerous for road use, and i would'nt want all the hassle after an accident.(whether they were at fault or not) i'll shut up now. chris.
