I’m after some Toyo R888Rs for my 205 Hillclimb car, specifically the SG compound. Every place I’ve looked only seems to sell the GG which is a harder compound.
Has anyone got any contacts who may be able to get hold of the SGs? Tyre size is 185/60 R14
Cheers!

Papa Smith or JD Competition tyres - although I’d have thought Tweeks do them as well?
Don’t think you can order them online - need to phone them up.

Search on Ebay, there's a few selling but not all state the compound , may be worth contacting sellers ?

I've been informed that the R888Rs aren't quite as good as the predecessors so it may be worth trying an alternative if you can . My 205 was OK on the GGs in a 14" wheel .

In my opinion they’re quite a bit better - I race my Fiesta on them in 15”. I can’t help with getting soft compound ones though; we have a Toyo deal so get them straight from the company, but medium compound only for racing.

That’s annoying, I was running interstate DNRTs previously but I’ve gone down a wheel size now and they aren’t available. If anything they were better than the 888s!

I understand the XJS community are not a fan of the 888Rs. So much that people are stockpiling the R888s. But Toyo are the control tyre for the XJS Championship.

The Exreme’s are really good, not great on the wallet though 😆 I think my size is out of stock at the moment.

That’s why I’m still on 1A’s 😂 I just got curse word off with buying 1A tyres only to find they were worse than my normal road tyres when given a bit of stick! Worst one was a set of Proxes which I sold after a few months. 1B is a bigger risk financially but seems to be safer lol. You should try the Interstate’s if they’re in your size. They’re mega cheap and we were out performing similar spec’d cars.

That’s a tyre that’s never even crossed my mind, the DNRT. Seems to be NS-2R based? Good price though for a 1B.
As I compete in a Handicap championship, I need to weigh up the advantage of a 1B over a 1A tyre; Needs to be 2.5% quicker which is quite a lot!!

Extreme Tyres have had really good reviews for hill climb and sprint use. Lots of the guys in the Hot Hatch series i race in run 15's and either a DZ03G or Yokohama AO50. Not sure where your based but there is a guy on FB called Tech & Tyres based in Trowbridge who can sort comp tyres. - www.facebook.com/techandtyres/

They knocked seconds off for me in a Clio and I think just over a second for a mate in a BMW Mini.
