Don't know how to do a poll so I'll just ask the question.
I'm rebuilding a pair of 2nd hand calipers for the back of my Primera to fix the non-existant handbrake. Should I paint the castings or just leave them a bit manky looking?
If I paint them, what colour do you reckon?

Click new poll, right next to new thread.
I recon black or possibly silver. Any other colour, particuarly red or yellow is a bit chav,

agreed, silver for the "new" look black for something a bit different.
Anything else will just look like it belongs on a saxo

black is good. Gives a clean look without being tacky and doesnt show the dirt like silver.

The Firenza had red calipers and drums when I bought it - just looked wrong. Painted them black and they're so much better.

Mine are blue! Does this mean I'm a chav..?
I reckon red would be fine on the rear. Unless they're tiny, then they look a bit silly painted body colour.

Mine are a sort of red-oxide / browny colour... ;D If you're rebuilding them, it's always nice to paint things I think - as a kind of psychological thing... to me anyway. I would do either black, silver or (at a push) gold.

Did the ones on my beetle (they don't look so weedy with crossdrilled discs!) red, used bright red japlac paint and it hasn't come off, I've only used the car a few times, but seems fine, You have to do at least 2 layers though. screw it, photo time! Now, you tell me this is chav! (its a 1968 beetle) on here:

Ive always painted my calipers light gold in the past. It makes them look new & ads a bit of bling imo. But these days i firmly believe all calipers should be snot green ;D

Years ago I painted the Opel calipers and drums with yellow Smoothrite, but when he noticed BnD did laugh and call me a chav! Hence the replacement drums are black and the calipers are that dirty you can't tell Play it safe and go for black or silver I reckon
