I was crossing a bridge this afternoon and stopped for a rest (I was on my bike) and as I looked over the edge I spotted this; Closer; So as I had some time to kill I headed up stream, climbed down the bank and took a closer look; Just out of interest can anybody identify? This was the same place I found a Datsun hubcap, ford hubcap and Beetle carburettor last winter so somebody must be dumping parts further upstream. Dave.

Looks like a Ford 100E axle to me, going by the wide stud spacing and shape of (whats left of) the spring perches. Well, it bears an uncanny resemblance to the one I evicted from under my 'E anyway!

It's an odd looking design, it has a row of bolts around one of the axle tubes suggesting the whole tube can be unbolted from the side of the diff housing.

Was kinda waiting for that reply ;D It actually went under a rough spare shell I had to keep it rolling. Which I sold to some guys in hi vis jackets with an orange light equipped Transit, who reckoned they were gonna make a racer of it (well, it was bare shell that was rough as shoite). Entirely possible they could have put it there!
