I've very reluctantly reached the conclusion that I'm probably not going to be able to give my CX the attention it deserves, so I'm putting it up for sale before I change my mind again.
I bought it last summer and drove it from Norfolk down to Devon, then home via my parents' near Bristol - a c.700 mile round trip, and it never missed a beat. It still starts up every time, suspension and brakes work as they should, and in fact I've not had to put a drop of LHM in it since I bought it. The engine is not the most refined (and one of the engine mounts seems to be a bit tired so it vibrates somewhat at lower revs) and it also seems to be a bit down on power, but it still keeps up with traffic and doesn't get hot, smoke or otherwise misbehave. I haven't looked into the reason for the lack of boost beyond checking the turbo pipes for any obvious splits, of which there are none.
The bodywork is quite spectacularly battered. Both offside doors are pretty shagged (although both still open and close fine), and there's a significant dent in the nearside front wing as well. There's also a few patches of rust. It's had various replacement panels over the years in varying shades of silver. Interior isn't bad at all though apart from the saggy headlining, and the seats are typically armchair comfortable.
Electrics mostly seem to work, although I've had to disable the central locking (by pulling the fuse) as it was draining the battery. Also I don't think the HRW is working, and the aircon needs a regas. Brakes as previously mentioned are good, even the handbrake is pretty decent by CX standards. Tyres are legal but not brilliant.
The main thing it needs to get back on the road is welding. It's not a complete rot box by any stretch but it is going to need various bits doing on the inner sills and inner arches etc. The outer sills have been repaired in the past but again might need a couple of bits doing to them for a test.

In NE Norfolk, still drives fine so could be driven away to a pre-booked MOT.
