I know I need to let this go and forget about it, but I can't! There is a new series on Netflix called the Umbrella academy. In it there are some decent old cars including a Volvo 240/760 sedan. They dubbed HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORBIKE noises on it when it goes anywhere - I can't watch it - How did all those people who made it not think - Hang on, that sounds like a motorbike .... Episode 5/6 has a lot of the volvo in it

There was a few cock-ups from ashes to ashes if i remember correctly. It was mainly due to pita locals who wouldn’t move their cars when asked and/or defied the road closed signs, there were a couple when I was on set for life on Mars

Ice Cold in Alex.
After that final bar scene and as the credits roll a Series I Land Rover drives past. Destroyed my enjoyment of the entire film. (I can accept poetic licence for Sir Anthony Quail's accent)

This reminds me of the episode of The New Avengers where Gambit is having a car chase with an Aston Martin DBS. Later on in the chase, it becomes an Audi Coupe 100S. Apparently they had to re-shoot a scene, but couldn't get the DBS back, so substituted something else.

I really enjoyed the show a few years ago "We're doomed:The Dad's army story" about Jimmy Perry and David Croft trying to get the first episode of Dad's army made in 1967. Just a pity Jimmy Perry's character drove a 1970 Beetle; And the cast were transported to the set in a 1976 coach; I'm sure there are lots more examples out there. Dave.

Oh this is going to descend into hilarious territory.
For me, I hate films that get number plates wrong. It's one of those little details that bother me. I should have more important things to worry about.
I actually can give tv shows a pass, the budgets are lower, timeframes are shorter. But everyone has their thing that bothers them and I don't mean to diminish anyone else's opinion!

Any period drama where everybody drives a pristine showroom condition (concours restoration) late model (for the period) car.
And producers who forget that most people seem to drive around with an interior full of kids toys, jackets, tissue boxes, shopping bags etc and I presume they did in the olden days too.

Both My Mad Fat Diary and Sex Education had similar problems with the ages of cars. They would have a period 80's or 90's car, i.e. an old Merc or a Nova. The trouble was that there would be something from the 2000's in the background! Madness!

Watched a recent movie called 'Vivarium' - supposedly set in UK with (mostly) British actors and seemingly British locales....except all the cars had Danish number plates. After looking it up, seems it was part-funded by a Danish production company so assume they filmed it all there and made it look generic enough that it could England. Took me right out of it though!

For me its motorbike noises. Single cylinder two stroke with the sound of a howling 4 cylinder Suzuki GSXR or using generic Harley potato-potato sound for any bike. Not quite as annoying as when they have a car chase and some overweight floppy 4x4 keeps up with a fast saloon or sports car especially on twisty roads.
And don't get me onto guns in movies, that metallic noise they dub over every time a pistol is drawn or a carbine/long gun raised or pointing a gun at a bad guy then racking it,or telling them to freeze when they should be putting two centre mass or causing the pink mist. Rounds bouncing off car windows or body work when they'd just penetrate. Firing a round into a fuel tank causing an explosion when it would cause a big leak.
I'm going for a cuppa as I am getting unnecessarily wound up now.

gene hunts gxl Cortina with E badges Wasn't it the other way round the car was an E and they put t gxl badges on it to make it look older? Correct but who cares. I’m not a Cortina nut. I was born in 65 so it’s very much my time but apparently even after all that it had the wrong dash & I think I remember reading vinyl roofs were not a thing on that model in 73. I don’t care, it’s one of the best tv series in the last 20 yrs. love, love, love it

Strictly speaking the Ashes to Ashes and Life On Mars cars (spoiler alert) could be forgiven as they're effectively constructs in the afterlife, but it wound me up too. Especially in the first episode where Sam goes past an Allegro 3 on the way in to the police station.
Atomic Blonde annoyed me. They obviously thought "Yeah! 1989! Classic car time!". Instead I spotted 2 mistakes in the first few minutes. She walks past a 1987 E reg MGB GT with oversized wire wheels that I doubt were available in 1989, and a Mini with a body kit that wasn't on sale until the 90s. Drove me nuts!
Quantum of Solace opening car chase. Alfa 159s keeping pace with an Aston? Do me a favour.
But my biggest irritation was in Die Hard with a Vengeance. Stolen Mercedes where McLean tells Zeus to "Start pulling fuses to disable the antilock brakes". So why does a) Zeus pull out all the fuses? He's an electrician, so he'd know that pulling fuses at random might shut something else useful off (like the fuel pump) but more importantly b) he pulls the fuses from inside the car, when they're actually under the bonnet in normal non-film world...
Rush: James Hunt's 1966 Mini Cooper - clearly a rebadged Mk4/5 with Mk1 rear lights. No external hinges.
Cannonball Run: Stating that a 170 (at best) mph Countach can do 220mph (probably need about 750bhp to make that), and everyone running together to put their tickets in at the end - WHEN THEY ALL LEFT AT DIFFERENT TIMES!!!! Also the ambulance driver saying that it'd take about 4-5 minutes to get to the hospital WHICH WAS 10 MILES AWAY!!!!
