I'd imagine there isn't that much space in the back of the chrysler as the body leans into the car, a bit like the Nissan juke or is it quashqai. With the rear seats in it's similar to the Juke (which I currently have) however with the rear seats down and folded forward it's big, take the seats out (2 minutes ) and its more like a van, loads of space. My 2 Cruisers were great family cars ( 2 kids), as for power, the 2.2 diesel would pull tree stumps out. Didn't have problems with visibility or parking, the only annoyance was the poor turning circle. As for looks, the Cruiser is a very Marmite car, you either love it or hate it, me (and my wife) are firmly in the love it camp,

I saw a tidy, completely original '03 2.2CRD go on eBay yesterday for about £700. I've never been a fan but they've gone through the trough of 'utter c**pness' now and are starting to really thin out. As a result, they are becoming a bit interesting. The trouble is, I've yet to see a style that really suits it. Like the recent Audi TT thread, any 'mods' I've ever seen just make them look worse.

I think a lot of the problems associated with the PT cruiser seem to me to be related to the image portrayed by a certain type of driver.
Obviously I need to tread carefully, everything has potential and I shouldn’t be negative, but a disproportionate amount of owners seem to stick fake chrome vents, flames and wolves howling at the moon.... or maybe they don’t but those ones burn into your memory or something. I don’t think it’s anything about the car that puts people off
But, mate has had 2, 1st was a mk1.. was more retro, had a much funkier retro interior but think they were all petrols and it was quite thirsty. He now has a mk2 diesel, it’s a merc engine (or mostly merc) drives better, but is more normal. Not quick but loads of torque, so probably ideal as a tow car
Driven a Sharan, and it’s a car... doesn’t stand out as anything, but was perfectly competent. Bigger than the PT though

But the black one above and @loveandthunder 's van converted one were the exceptions to prove that done subtly they can hit the spot. Similar subtle styling would suit the sharan too though and i'd guess better parts availability?

AFAIK all the diesels were Mercedes built engines (a version of the Sprinter van engine) I've had both, an early Inferno Red 2 litre petrol and a later Magnesium 2.2 CRD diesel TBO I didn't think the interior design was that much different and the exterior changes were relatively minor

Externally they were very similar, the first one had a body coloured dash, chrome gear stick with a white pool ball type gear knob, this one is similar in layout but just grey plastic.... could that be a trim level thing? (or because it’s a silver car and not blue?) Either way it lost the theatre somehow that was in the first one he had. But I don’t really know what I’m talking about... I’ve just been given lifts a few times

I’ve just been given lifts a few times I think it must be the trim/colour combo, both mine had body coloured dash panels and chrome gearsticks, the red one had a round white knob, the other was round, but can't recall the colour

Can't believe I'm saying this as a dyed in the wool VW fan, but I would go for the PT Cruiser! Think I've seen too many Sharan black cabs and its put me off a bit.
