You know the ones. You fit them in the servo pipe and they turn your Yugo into a rocket ship. My Primera has one and all it seems to do is make a really irritating gurgling noise.
Has anyone had any positive experiences with them or is it, as common sense would suggest, a load of old guff?

RUBBISH!
My mate had one on his Escort, it ruined fuel economy and made it unable to idle when warm. Zero power gains too.

Bin bin bin. Every time. There are no free power gains to be had, only common sense tuning. (prepares to be shot down by plenty of examples proving otherwise)
Thinking about it, I suppose ground effect in F1, i.e. using the underbody to generate almost drag free downforce, was a free gain. Not really in power though. Thinking about it even more, Tyrell found that the huge sticky up airboxes that started sprouting on F1 cars gave a big increase in power from their DFVs without any real penalty. Not really in the same league as an Ecotek valve though.
I'm going off to buff my F1 book collection and look at seventies Grand Prix car photos.

Selling it to an ebay clown would seem the best approach.

I've got a device that, erm, poliarises your fuel. You clip it around the fuel line and it rotates the hydrogen atoms in any kind of fuel so they fit through the valves better. It's only £39.99 plus postage, anyone want one? It takes 5 weeks to start showing any benefit though, due to the well-known effects of running non-polarised fuel. Comes with a free 4-week money-back guarantee.
* Pillock goes to unclip a load of RF filters from his computer cables....

I had one on a mkIII astra sport years back. I did back to back runs on my local private road with it working and with it screwed shut. I got a slight performance increase with it working and was all excited, then later realised that for the runs I did with the thing working, my mate wasnt in the passenger seat. Doh. so much for empirical testing.

Many's the time I've been sat on the hard shoulder of the M6 at midnight in the curse word rain with a non-functioning car that cut out on me and had the RAC man arrive and say "It's yer fuel mate. It's not polarised enough."

If you want to be REALLY trick, higher wattage quantum bulbs in the rear compared to the front will cause low pressure photons to suck the car forwards making it faster at night (avoid lit areas for maximum benefit)

Ethical question for you. You list your ecotek valve on ebay with a vague "it was on a car I bought" explanation and, within minutes, someone asks why you removed it and was because of the noise. Do you reply:
i) yes it was partly the noise AND ALSO BECAUSE IT'S curse word! or ii) it's not really noisy, it's just not really my thing. I like my cars standard.

Say that you have a problem controlling the violent torque steer encountered when the Ecoktek is fitted.
