yaris yorin? i'll raise you with the Citroen Saxo radio 538 edition!! most of them in yellow with blue interior. big speakers in the parcelshelf and a staggering 1.0 engine!! Radio 538 was also sponsor of the saxo cup in Holland. Totally forgot about that one! Don't think yorin had anything to do with the yaris cup, so the saxo might've been more appealing back then!

I think these Escorts were also available in a maroon colour to. Might be an urban myth but I have a memory of these being built to use surplus parts stock before the new model Escort was released. Yes they were, it was a kind of metallic maroon Escort was eclipse Orion was equipe Both could be had in metallic red or metallic blue. Both with hateful Valencia / Kent looking engine that sounded like gravel in a washing machine when running...

I had a lada ‘San Remo’ estate. (Not it’s best side but one of the few pics I have). As far as anyone could tell the only ‘extras’ this scored you was two stickers that said ‘San Remo’ and a red pinstripe. Everything else was 100% stock for a 1500 estate, with the exception of the cheapest, horriblest sunroof cut in (over the swages in the roof, so it leaked) but it’s unclear if that was factory, dealer, or aftermarket fit. I guess if you buy bargain basement cars you get bargain basement upgrade packages 😂

I had a limited edition 1.4 RT clio 'MTV EDITION' This is what they say online: The MTV Edition celebrated the era’s obsession for ‘Music Television’. Exterior changes were subtle and mainly limited to badging and alloys, but inside there was also an upgraded stereo with a CD player, so music-loving owners wouldn’t have to fit their own. That's right it had a CD player - only this one had been replaced

just why Not just the Astra there were similar Nova versions too but called Spin. I had one as my first car back in 2000. It had the ancient 10S 1 litre engine fitted to it which was long in the tooth when it was made in 1992 but simple and cheap for a brassic engineering student to work on. I saw an immaculate one (it was in better nick then my original one even though it was nearly 20 years later ) for sale a couple of years ago for not much money and if it had been in white, like my one was, instead of red I'd have bitten the sellers hand off! They're the only two Nova versions I've ever seen mind.

I'm really enjoying this thread but I can't let it go on without some Range Rover content... The following were kind of weird in that I don't recall Land Rover doing much of this sort of thing before the P38 and it was definitely among the first attempts to market the car purely at city dwellers who had a good bit of spare cash and a point to prove. Although not strictly a proper limited edition because it wasn't made available for purchase but I had to include it, made famous by Noel Edmunds, the Range Rover P38 rolling office concept:
Article from Land Rover Monthly about it here - www.pressreader.com/uk/land-rover-monthly/20190801/281599537022794, it seems to pop up for sale from time to time, last time was with Silverstone Auctions in October 2020. One of the headline features back in the day was that it came with a fax machine haha. The other one I remember was the Range Rover P38 Linley which was a collaboration with Lord Linley and his very posh furniture company. Apparently only 6 ever got built, with a good story on one of the owner forums about the only 1 that went to the USA falling in to cheap Range Rover disrepair before being rediscovered a few years ago by an enthusiast, who knew what it was and who was on the way to fully restoring it. The interior of a Linley edition got a black leather headliner and piano black bits of trim, I think the rest of the car was standard HSE spec. The price was over £100k which seems an awful lot for a black paint job, some black trim parts and a leather headliner, the steering wheel was pretty nice though. Dunsfold Land Rover collection managed to buy one off a random used car sales place a few years ago, probably going to be worth a small fortune one day.

On the Ford thing, my parents bought a 1997 Escort "Freedom" back in the day. I think it was a 1.3 or 1.4, it was a beautiful aubergine colour but I can't remember much else about it. Apart from the VRM. Long since gone... As has the dealership thst they bought it from.

Out of the 5 cars i've owned, 2 of them were limited editions. First of all... 1998 Citroen Saxo "Open Scandal" . Terrible name, I started a thread on here about them recently. Mine was a 1.0 engine, pale Yellow, Vinyl roof and multi coloured seats. The seats were made up of all the other colours in the "Scandal" range I think and the "open" part of Open Scandal meant that the roof had a sliding fabric sunroof like a fiat 500 etc (mine was the cheapo one with a vinyl only roof). Also the dials in mine were blue. this was followed by a 1995 Escort 1.4 "Mistral". Basically a mild xr3i mk5 look a like. It had the same alloys, spoiler and mine had a decent cassette deck with dolby noise reduction... maybe that was standard? The seats were nice and it had a tilt and slide sunroof. Wish i'd kept this one but at the time it just went a bit long in the tooth all at once. ironically tried to sell it here in 2011 but it wasnt cool then

My Astra is a Merit Conquest, never seen another. Only thing different is someone butchered the roof to fit a leaky sunroof.

Peugeot have had an association with them for ages, they've done a load of the things, even the Peugeot Partner which is probably the oddest one. The spec for its time wasn't bad, just no a/c as above which is a shame.

Mazda MX5 Le Mans edition made after the win at Le Mans with the 787B hence the colour scheme - it's a 1.6 with a turbo Ssyang Yong DMZ - I found this when I was looking for other weird editions, made because of the divide between north and South Korea. Check out the cammo!
